Underwriter overall role
Underwrites residential conventional loans ensuring that loan and borrower meet all guideline requirements, regulatory compliance with appropriate company, secondary market Investor standards, and all applicable laws. The Underwriter will examine loan documentation and validate it for accuracy and completeness. Must be able to underwrite wholesale and retail loans within the company, agency, and investor guidelines. The Underwriter will also work with Loan Originators, Branch Managers, and Processors to secure all required documents.
Responsibilities
-Validate that loan meets agency, investor, and PMG guidelines by reviewing loan applications, all income, asset, credit, and collateral documentation, and ensuring that documentation supports finding and loan decision.
-Validate that loan meets regulatory state and federal compliance; TILA, RESPA and Predatory Lending, including but not limited to fees tests, Ability to Repay (ATR), Qualified Mortgage (QM), Loan Estimate (LE) timelines, Closing Disclosure (CD) timelines, by reviewing disclosures for discrepancies and to ensure they are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
-Follow AUS findings.
-Exercises good judgment and conducts reasonableness tests and issues quality decisions.
-Develops and maintains an up to date and sound knowledge of multiple loan product guidelines offered by the company, agencies, investors, and risk assessment tools used to decision mortgage loans.
-Maintains a sound knowledge of secondary market activity, practices, and business/industry practices as they impact underwriting quality and origination activity.
-Responsible for timely response on audits of loan files underwritten prior to and after funding.
-Maintains pre-established service level standard of decisions within the time frame set by the company.
-Communicates regularly with sales team, processors and management.
-Adherence to policies and procedures set forth by brand and Panorama Mortgage Group, LLC..
-Consistently meet or exceed established minimum productivity and quality goals set forth by management.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Able to comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the Company Handbook
Skiills
-Must have a minimum English Language comprehension of “B2 Upper Intermediate” according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scale.
-Language skill required includes ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
-Knowledge of mortgage principles and theories.
-Two to Four years of experience in mortgage banking and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Understanding of TILA, RESPA and Predatory Lending
-Proficient in computers including LOS systems, Microsoft Office and Excel. Ability to adapt/ learn/utilize multiple software programs. Experience with paperless environment preferred.
-Computer skill required is that of basic personal computing including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
-Self-starter, adapt to a changing environment and have the ability to communicate and work well with Investors and co-workers
-Timely communication and response times according to department standards
-Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop working relations with business associates at a positive level.
-Strong analytical and decision making/problem solving skills
-Possess a keen eye for accuracy, attention to detail and ability to handle a high-volume workload.
-Effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment.
-Ability to deliver effective results and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
-Communicates in a positive and professional manner at all times.
-Exercise independent judgment and ability to work independently.
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization and time management skills

-High school diploma or general education degree.
-Mathematical skill is that of ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
