Software Development Engineer - Junior Level

Apply applicable foundational subject matter knowledge to solve business issues and to meet business objectives, specifically for the Global Infrastructure and Security team within Personal Systems Operations. Contributes to the development of new ideas and methods, and works on problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth and thorough analysis of multiple factors. Effectively engages with project teams and provides meaningful contributions to functional program/project teams, and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. May act as a key contributor with process improvements and policy establishment, and may represent the organization to external customers/clients as warranted. Exercises independent judgment within defined policies and practices to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Will be expected to develop effective autonomy and self-reliance.

Responsibilities:

• Take an active role in designing, developing, developer testing, and maintaining software solutions, tools, and utilities that HP and its external manufacturing partners use to build HP Personal Systems products and to manage Microsoft client Operating Systems licenses to those products; be able to effectively work with teams of software developers and validators to deliver functional and stable solutions in a timely and productive manner
• Proactively research and drive implementation of software development process and technique proficiencies and enhancements
• Engage with program management, technical management, system architects, and other internal entities to understand the business and operational requirements to support the product roadmaps and business objectives, and to interpret and translate those requirements into achievable designs
• Work closely with other software development and Cyber Security engineers to ensure all deliverables meet established Cyber Security requirements and guidelines
• Author and maintain appropriate specifications, user guides, installation instructions, troubleshooting procedures and training materials as needed
• Partner with internal validation, build/release, and other development team members to adhere to and enhance standardized ISO27001 compliancy processes
• Follow all established team processes and guidelines: coding standards, release notes, administrative responsibilities

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related technical field
• 1-3 years in Software development for OS system (particularly Windows) level programming, webservices, microservices, Cloud-based solutions
• 1-3 years of Software development experience with relational databases (MS SQL Server preferred)
• 1-3 years programing in C++/C#; working knowledge and use of Java / Javascript is a plus
• Clear understanding of and exposure to an Agile methodology climate, and/or CI/CD pipeline model
• Experience with MS .net framework, object oriented programming, UML and Use Case approaches is a plus; experience with messaging systems is a plus
• Basic understanding of networking protocols and load balancing considerations

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in English; proficiency in creating and delivering presentations to peers and various management levels
• Oral and written fluency in English is a must; fluency in Spanish or Chinese is a plus
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision/direction
• Must be able to work a standard 40 hour work week during normal business hours in the local time zone; occasional overtime and/or off-shift hours may be requested
• Authorized to work full time in the country in which the position is to be filled
