Education: Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Technical Specialist in Tool & Die.
Experience: 10–15 years in stamping process design, tool & die manufacturing in the automotive industry (preferably Tier 2).
Technical Knowledge:
Design and manufacturing of stamping dies
Material selection (stainless steel, mild steel)
Types of stamping: progressive, transfer, cold/hot stamping
CAD/CAM software: AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks
Standards: IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and APQP (preferred)
Skills:
Team leadership, process optimization
English communication (B2–C1 level)
Key Technical Expertise:
Tool & Die Design: Deep knowledge in die design and tolerances for stamping processes.
Material Selection: Expert in behavior and selection of metals and plastics under stamping pressure.
Process Definition: Experience with cold/hot stamping, high-precision, progressive and transfer stamping.
Quality Control: Proficient in quality standards to ensure part accuracy and compliance with specs.
CAD/CAM & Simulation: Hands-on experience using tools like AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks.
Failure Analysis: Ability to detect and resolve stamping defects such as cracks, wrinkles, and distortions.
GD&T Knowledge: Full understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Press Equipment: Familiarity with presses from 150 to 1500 tons.
Process Optimization: Focused on cost and cycle time reduction through efficiency improvements.
Automation & Controls: Knowledge in robots, sensors, and quality control systems within stamping lines.
Maintenance: Ability to coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, identify critical spares in BOMs.
Time & Motion Management: Skilled in maximizing machine and personnel utilization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Involvement in APQP, supplier management, tool buy-offs, actual vs. estimated scrap analysis, SPM validation, and blank size assessments.
Responsibilities:
Stamping Process Design & Development
Design progressive and transfer stamping dies.
Define and simulate cold/hot stamping processes using CAD/CAM tools.
Review and validate strip layouts and tooling with corporate.
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
Analyze and improve current stamping processes to reduce scrap and cycle times.
Establish parameters for new tools (e.g., SPM, blank size).
Compare actual vs. estimated scrap and define corrective actions.
Quality Control & Failure Analysis
Ensure compliance with GD&T tolerances.
Detect and resolve stamping issues (cracks, wrinkles, distortion).
Work with quality and APQP teams for process validation and release.
Technical Maintenance & Management
Coordinate preventive/corrective maintenance of dies.
Identify and manage critical spare parts and BOM minimums/maximums.
Ensure tool availability and functionality on the production floor.
Team Leadership
Supervise 3 engineers responsible for stamping operations and development.
Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure targets are met.
Train and develop technical staff.
Project Management
Lead new product launches and process improvement projects.
Coordinate with suppliers, clients, and North American corporate teams.
Ensure project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and APQP standards.
Promote industrial safety practices in the stamping area.
Cross-functional Communication
Report progress and KPIs to the Engineering Manager.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, design, maintenance, and corporate teams.
Maintain fluent communication (in English) with Tier 1 clients and corporate headquarters in North America.
