R&D/Design Engineering Manager - Sensors
Location: Tlalnepantla, MX (Hybrid).
- We offer relocation support to candidates located in other cities.
Job Summary:
This position reports directly to the North America Regional Transportation Sensors Engineering Leader.
We are looking for looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering leader to join its Transportation Sensors Engineering Americas Organization as R&D/Product Dvl Engineering Manager for the Tlalnepantla Sensors R&D/Development Team.
General functions:
- Leverage a structured new product development process and stage gate frameworks to lead project engineering activities from initial research & development throughout the entire project development lifecycle either New Product Introduction and/or Advanced Development Projects:
- Requirements Management – Translate Product Requirement Document (PRD) into Specifications
- Concept definition ensuring product cost efficiencies through benchmarking and Should Cost Analysis Sample build plans and Validation Testing (DV & PV)
- PPAP & release for local customer
· Knowledge Transfer of Sensing Technologies and Sensors Product Lines Design & Process know-how to sustain product in mass production and execute New Business Opportunities in the region.
· Partner with Global Design Center and Product Line Center of Expertise to support product development and drive significant business growth for Rotary Position, Linear Position Sensors and
· Coordinate and Execute flawlessly, on-time and First Time Right the engineering deliverables: DFMEA, Models, Drawings, Testing Plans, Reliability Plans, Testing Reports, just to name a few.
· Define DV & PV testing plans to validate product design according to customer requirements and collaborate with Reliability Experts to define Reliability Testing Plans to validate product lifetime performance and product limitations.
· Closely work with global manufacturing center of excellences and process development teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly are considered for production line concept during the design and development of truly differentiated solutions at a competitive cost.
· Drive and meet Operating Income goals through the coordination and execution of cost reduction projects (VA/VE – Value Analysis Value Engineering).
· Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales to drive Operating Income by sustaining the products in mass production ensuring production deliveries On-time, On-quality and On-
· Manage Project and Product changes through the Change Management process ensuring customer alignment and approval.
· Drive engineering efficiency, functional excellence, and productivity through Resource Management (Resource Timesheets/Forecasting)
· Manage the approved engineering budget and monitor actual expenses to ensure budget compliance.
· Drive innovation and Intellectual Property growth to protect existing and future business leveraging DFSS methodologies and continuous improvement.
· Proactively communicate escalations around challenges, gaps, support required and resource needs to quickly address issues before they impede successful delivery of key programs
· Understand, track and articulate issues / risks / action items; define and implement Risk Mitigation Plans and work with responsible owners to address the items on a timely basis.

General requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
- At least 10 years combined Design/Product development engineering and Leadership experience.
- Proven success in Engineering leadership in a multicultural environment and proven people leader with minimum 3 years in combined direct reporting or matrix reporting leadership.
- Solid experience of new product development and introduction of Sensors or related Electrical Devices into the Automotive
- Strong statistical knowledges in product development
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
- Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details
- Willingness to travel as required, up to ~10%-25%
Requirements that will give you a plus:
+ Master's Degree or PhD in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
+ Solid experience (+3 years) in Sensors Product Development (Position, Pressure, Rotary)
+ Experience with Creo for Modeling and Drafting
+ Experience with PDM link for product data management.
+ Experience with SAP or similar ERP system
+ DFSS, or Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
+ Standards Knowledge - IATF 16949, EN 9100, ISO 9001, AEC-Q100
+ Functional Safety (FuSa) Knowledge and Expertise
