The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring that the supply of materials meets production requirements and maintains optimal inventory levels. This role involves analyzing demand, monitoring supply chain performance, and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle.
Create and maintain accurate material requirement plans (MRP) based on sales forecasts and production schedules.
Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and production departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
Monitor inventory levels and adjust planning parameters as needed to optimize stock.
Analyze material usage trends and forecast future needs.
Resolve material shortages, backorders, or delays with suppliers.
Maintain accurate data in ERP or MRP systems, including lead times, safety stock, and reorder points.
Collaborate with supply chain, production, and procurement teams to improve material flow and reduce costs.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in materials planning, inventory control, or supply chain.
Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
