Position Summary:
The Commodity Manager (CM) role is an essential function in supporting Carestream Health's strategic procurement initiatives, as such, the CM will be an integral part of our purchasing organization. In this role, thecandidate will be empowered to deliver value across assigned commodity categories. The CM is expected toperform sourcing & negotiation activities. You will partner with internal clients to analyze & rationalize technologyand professional service deals.
Position Responsibilities:
Commodity Category Skills: (30%)
• Partner with the SC&L Transportation and Planning staff in the US & Canada and EU to develop a scope of work, selection criteria, and management of Third-Party Logistics (3PL) suppliers. Suppliers will be required toreport performance against KPIs on a regular basis.
• Responsible for co-developing and managing Performance Guarantees with incentives to ensure the supplier is delivering results per the contract.
• Partner with the Transportation Managers in the US & Canada and EU to identify suppliers, negotiate & award contracts, and manage the performance of Motor Carriers, Air Freight, Parcel, Ocean Carriers and High Value -White Glove Delivery Services.
• Responsibilities include regular competitive sourcing events including E-auctions and negotiations to select the best carriers with the lowest Total Cost of Ownership representing Quality, Service and Price.
• Primary point of contact for internal clients & external suppliers as related to the listed commodity categories.
• Requires knowledge & experience in “Indirect” commodity categories including but not limited to Marketing, Benefits, Logistics & Warehousing, Professional Services, Travel, Fleet, IT/IS/Telecom, and Real Estate.
• Requires knowledge & experience in “Direct” commodity categories including but not limited to Packaging Materials, Capital, Non-capital Services, and Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO),
Strategic Sourcing: (30%)
• Utilization of functional knowledge of Strategic Sourcing, Commodity & Category Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement Market Analysis, Commercial Terms & Conditions, and OEM Manufacturing.
• Aligned with internal clients, generate & evaluate Request For Information (RFI), Request For Quotation (RFQ), Request For Proposal (RFP), Statement Of Work (SOW), and other.
• Negotiate pricing & terms, negotiate, and write confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, consignment agreements, termination letters, and other contract documents for assigned commodity categories.
• Define, establish, and lead the strategic sourcing process (including all phases of marketplace or benchmark analysis, understanding index & feedstock pricing, E-auction, bundling, and supplier identification.
• Work with the engineering & quality team at the factory to enable the qualification, selection, product accreditation & approval for use if necessary).
Client & Vendor Relationships: (25%)
• Work effectively with both internal clients and external supplier personnel, at all levels, including management.
• Translate client requirements into actionable sourcing plans. Ability to integrate purchasing strategies with internal client objectives.
• Build strong supplier relationships, manage supplier assessment, implement & monitor ongoing supplier key performance indicators (KPIs) & supplier scorecards. Drive ongoing cost reductions & continuous improvements.
Analytical: (15%)
• Identification & evaluation of suppliers to include but not limited to capabilities, financial stability, reputation, compliance to regulations, and cost, quality, delivery & risk track record.
• Analyze data to enable decision making or to build recommendations on sourcing strategies with implications for vendor selection, including Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
• Analyze and solve problems important to the success of the organization or company.
Required Skills & Education:
• B.S. in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt. (or related field) or any Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) field and minimum 3 years procurement or commodity management experience preferred.
• Or High School diploma and minimum 5 years procurement or commodity management experience.
• Knowledge, understanding & experience in domestic & international logistics markets to better enable the efficient & cost-effective movement of purchased items across the globe.
• Bi-lingual English & Spanish is essential (Read, Write and Speak both fluently.)
• Travel as required. Willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork mindset with the ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships based on winning goals and objectives. Works in a self-managed team environment with minimaldirect supervision, Self-Motivator.
• Track record of delivering or exceeding expectations.
• Demonstrated effective personal computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet. Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. SAP/Ariba preferred.
• Innovative and results oriented with a high degree of professional and ethical behavior. Ability to effectively influence others and manage sensitive situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
• Sensitivity to different cultures and global country practices.
• Business & financial acumen, ability to function as business partner through teaming, with the ability to motivate, influence and drive change in a collaborative and effective way.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment (or similar highly regulated industry). Familiarity with Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Supplier Controls a plus.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 a plus.
• Six-sigma (green, brown, or black belt), or equivalent a plus.
• Professional purchasing or supply chain certifications a plus.
• Project Management skills a plus.
