Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (MVCFS) has helped California children and families through our residential treatment programs for more than 50 years. MVCFS provides individualized treatment services for boys and girls, ages 10-21.
Our services are facilitated by experienced professionals who care deeply for the children in their care. Services include therapeutic programs, mental health services, special education, and related programs that ensure permanency and ongoing therapeutic and community support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a healthy and safe environment.
Engage in safe practices at all times
TOTAL SUPERVISION
Implement residential treatment programs
Function as a mentor, coach and role model to residents
Participate in the facilitation of the agency program statement
Participate in the implementation of Individual Treatment Plans
Attend and participate in all required staff training and meetings
Possess excellent judgment and problem solving skills, B
Be decisive in times of crisis and potential danger,
Effectively respond to crisis in a trauma-informed manner to restore calm
Be able to build positive relationships and rapport with children of various interests and personalities,
Be able to build positive relationships and rapport with teammates,
Be able to earn the respect of residents and MVCFS personnel
Be well practiced in the skills necessary to provide a healthy and homelike atmosphere: housekeeping, hygiene, living skills, chores, cooking, etc.,
Possess good written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with staff and residents,
Be able to write accurate and legible incident reports, behavioral observations, communication log entries, etc.,
Be able to walk, run, bend, climb, lift and perform physical restraints which require physical strength, endurance, and flexibility in all body joints and major muscle groups.
Be able to use their mental faculties to make appropriate judgments in all areas that affect the care, welfare, safety and security of MVCFS staff and residents.
Qualifications: Minimally, MHWs must:
Be at least 21
Have a valid Driver's License, have acceptable documentation of education and experience.
Be able to effectively communicate in English (verbally and in writing), and to read and understand documents written in English.
At minimum, have a bachelor's or master's degree. (preferrably in the mental health field)
Pass the California Dept. of Justice Live-scan, FBI and Child Abuse Clearance Index (CACI) background checks.
Pass a pre-employment physical examination to ensure ability to perform necessary job duties.
Pass drug test and Tuberculosis test
