Description:
The general objective of the Junior Estimator position at HLE is to carry out the accurate and efficient development of quantity takeoffs through detailed takeoffs based on plans and technical specifications, in order to prepare complete and competitive proposals for bidding processes. This core role involves coordinating and compiling all necessary documentation for bid submissions, including reviewing and validating technical and contractual data, managing quotations and preliminary budgets, and organizing and standardizing administrative and documentation processes related to bids.
Additionally, the role aims to collaborate closely with the senior estimator, participating in reviews and approvals, and supporting training and continuous improvement activities in the use of digital tools and work methodologies, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of bid packages with a focus on transparency, information quality, and compliance with project requirements to generate numbers that support sound decision-making and offer competitive estimates in the market.
Specific Objectives:
- Perform detailed and accurate takeoffs from blueprints and technical specifications, ensuring correct interpretation of documents and reflecting exact quantities.
- Prepare, complete, and organize all forms, documents, and bid packages, including proposals, attachments, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity.
- Develop preliminary budget sheets and perform quotations, compiling estimated quantities and costs, and managing quotes with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best terms.
- Review and validate contractual and technical documents, identifying inconsistencies and areas for improvement to ensure accuracy and constructability of proposals.
- Participate in proposal reviews and team meetings, contributing to the quality of bids and supporting technical and budgetary decisions.
- Standardize, maintain, and update administrative and documentation processes, including checklists, nomenclature, and assumptions records, to enhance organization, traceability, and auditing.
- Support the development and review of coverage strategies with subcontractors by providing technical and budgetary information to support informed decisions.
- Train in the use of digital tools, estimating software, and methodologies to increase daily task efficiency and accuracy.
- Organize and present final bid packages for approval, participating in handover meetings and information transfer with the team and supervisors.
- Promote continuous improvement in estimating and documentation processes, proposing optimization actions, standardization, and best practices to elevate work quality and efficiency.

- Advanced use of Presto, S10, Procore, and SharePoint to prepare budgets, control documentation, and manage traceability throughout all project phases.
- Developing cost models, pivot tables, and complex formulas in Excel; using AutoCAD to review and extract relevant technical information.
- Organizing and controlling technical and administrative documentation, including version control, reports, and digital or physical files, ensuring integrity and availability.
- Compiling and organizing bidding packages, managing bids and technical documents in accordance with established requirements and deadlines.
- Requesting, comparing, and evaluating quotations; negotiating prices, deadlines, and conditions with suppliers, establishing collaborative relationships and resolving technical inquiries.
Experience:
- Reading, reviewing, and interpreting construction plans, applying technical criteria to support project planning and execution
- Preparation of construction estimates and budgets based on technical specifications, quantities, and project conditions.
- Experience in bidding processes, including preparation and control of administrative documentation, as well as contract and execution term review.
- Ability to negotiate conditions, coordinate subcontractors and key suppliers, and manage business relationships to ensure compliance with time, cost, and quality requirements.
