Job Title: Software Engineer, Observability Catchpoint

Role Specific Responsibilities Include:
Description:
- Strong proficiency in working with, implementing, and maintaining observability tools. (Catchpoint, Bigpanda, AWS, ServiceNow, Pagerduty, Grafana).
- Take an active role in influencing the Observability team's roadmap, while working alongside other team members to design and engineer observability and reliability solutions.
- Create proactive monitoring and incident response: Focus on proactive monitoring, leveraging monitor data to detect anomalies, identify potential issues, and enable faster incident response. Ensuring system availability, reliability, and user satisfaction.
- Work with the Engineering teams to plan and coordinate new observability requirements.
- Interact with engineering teams to identify and resolve service defects.
- Automation/scripting skills (Selenium, JavaScript, Python)
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and debug code, as required.
- Testing Application Programming Interface (API) skills.
- Proficient in developing and maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures.
- Collaborate with Team to identify to provide insights and suggestions into challenges/existing issues.
- Maintain and operational work to ensure monitoring tools are in good health.
- Educate and lead efforts to improve observability among all engineering teams.
- Participate/collaborate cross functionally with vendors and other engineering teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Proficient knowledge of Linux and Windows (AWS EC2)
- AGILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT:
- Understand, embrace and promote agile methodologies, principles and values within the team
- Collaborate on storyboarding and story pointing.
- Participate in team retrospectives and feedback loops to improve on future iterations.
- Provide the Product Owner with any support required to facilitate their backlog grooming.
- Participate in daily team scrum meetings.
- Participate in sprint planning sessions.
- Demonstrate product increments in sprint reviews.
- Strive to improve team's velocity.
- Participate in Availability weekly meetings.
- FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work with Product Owner and/or Product Manager/Team to understand and help refine functional requirements for new products or upgrades and have a clear understanding of what definition of "done" is.
- Continually refine understanding with other engineers about high- and low-level technical details, product goals, and user needs.
- OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and mentor: provide direction to less experienced engineers regarding processes and product architecture.
- (May) create User Stories for non-critical user functions or for internally identified maintenance and improvement projects.
