Automotive Trade Compliance Specialist
Job Objective:
Ensure regulatory compliance in all foreign trade operations by managing IMMEX programs, VAT-IEPS certification, and customs regulations. This role will be responsible for mitigating legal risks, optimizing regulatory processes, and maintaining document integrity for internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Foreign Trade Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure proper adherence to applicable legal provisions related to programs such as IMMEX, VAT-IEPS certification, and international agreements.
• Implement internal controls to ensure proper tariff classification, application of exemptions, and tax benefits.
2. IMMEX Program and VAT-IEPS Certification Management:
• Administer Annex 24, ensuring accurate traceability of import and export operations.
• Coordinate inventory discharges with suppliers to comply with Annex 30.
• Oversee scrap management, returns, and temporary returns, including fixed assets.
3. Fixed Asset Management:
• Physically identify and register fixed assets under IMMEX program for proper control.
• Supervise the import and export of fixed assets, including machinery and equipment.
• Maintain records of fixed asset movements and coordinate with relevant departments for tracking and
management.
4. Preventive Audits and Document Control:
• Prepare and maintain auditable physical and electronic files to ensure compliance during internal and external audits.
• Coordinate preventive audits with external consultants to identify and address areas for improvement in foreign trade programs.
• Document and resolve discrepancies in customs entries, part numbers, and inventory records.
• Conduct data validation and glossing to ensure data accuracy and compliance with regulations.
5. Support for Foreign Trade Operations:
• Collaborate with the operational specialist to validate customs entries and documents, ensuring consistency with foreign trade records.
• Supervise RT and A1 return operations as well as the temporary importation of machinery under Rule second.
• Validate operations related to the export of raw materials or goods in the same condition.
6. Process Optimization:
• Design and implement policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
• Propose improvements to reduce risks of penalties.
7. Administrative Control:
• Prepare reports for effective control and administration of the department.
Requirements:
• Degree in International Trade, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
• Proven experience in trade compliance within the automotive sector.
• Knowledge of IMMEX, VAT-IEPS certification, customs regulations, and related foreign trade programs.
• Experience managing audits, document control, fixed asset tracking, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to handle tariff classifications, tax exemptions, and customs processes specific to automotive trade.
• Proficient in English; French is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
