The Shipping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping department in a manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all outbound shipments are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched on time. The supervisor coordinates with production, inventory, customer service, and carriers to meet delivery schedules and maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise shipping team members to ensure timely and accurate order processing, packaging, labeling, and dispatching of products.
Monitor daily shipping activities and adjust priorities to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
Ensure proper documentation (BOLs, packing slips, export paperwork, etc.) is prepared and maintained.
Oversee loading of trucks to ensure product safety and compliance with weight and transport regulations.
Maintain inventory accuracy through proper record-keeping and collaboration with inventory control staff.
Enforce health, safety, and environmental procedures in shipping and warehouse areas.
Train, evaluate, and coach shipping personnel, promoting productivity and adherence to company policies.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing shipping errors, costs, and lead times.
Resolve shipping discrepancies and customer complaints in collaboration with customer service.
Use ERP system for shipping transactions and reporting.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in manufacturing.
1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience.
Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations and documentation.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and shipping platforms.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Forklift certification (preferred or required depending on site).
