Summary

We are seeking a Test Engineering Lead with a strong background in electrical engineering, quality control, and process optimization to lead and scale our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for driving process improvements, ensuring high-yield and high-quality production, and leading the integration of new products into manufacturing. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with extensive experience in PCBA manufacturing, automation and factory process control, who can foster collaboration across engineering, operations, and quality teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams, providing technical leadership and mentorship.
  • Define and implement best practices for manufacturing process optimization, yield improvement and cost reduction.
  • Drive quality control initiatives, ensuring consistent production standards and defect reduction.
  • Establish robust incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality control (IQC, IPQC, OQC) protocols.
  • Implement real-time defect monitoring, predictive maintenance and root cause analysis systems.
  • Oversee failure analysis and corrective action implementation to prevent recurring defects.
  • Develop and execute DFM, DFA, and DFT strategies to ensure products are designed for efficient and high-yield manufacturing.
  • Manage pilot builds, first article inspections, and process validation to ensure smooth product launches.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to drive continuous improvements in quality and efficiency.
  • Drive automation initiatives, including automated testing, process control and data-driven manufacturing strategies.
  • Commit to working under high time/deliverable pressure with solid results.
  • Provide clear program updates and risk assessments to executive leadership, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Analyze and interpret production and quality data to drive continuous improvements and strategic decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality control, and process optimization.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of PCBA manufacturing, embedded systems and electronic assembly processes.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Expertise in quality control methodologies, including Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, and reliability testing.

Key Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and scaling technical manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Strong understanding of failure analysis, root cause investigation, and yield improvement.
  • Familiarity with design and schematic tools for reviewing manufacturability.
  • Ability to drive technical root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve system quality.
  • Experience implementing automated quality inspection and test systems to improve defect detection rates.
  • Familiarity with system manufacturing, SMT processes and transitioning new products into manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills, including deep engineering analysis.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage complex cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to travel internationally to manufacturing sites (Mexico and/or other locations).
  • Experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, or robotics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, CAN, etc.) in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

This role is ideal for a high-impact, quality-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and automation. If you have a passion for scaling operations, improving yields, and implementing cutting-edge quality control technologies, we want to hear from you.
