Job DescriptionOTA-LAD-MX The Oracle Linux Integration and Automation team are responsible for a number of different areas:
- Release Management - Managing the efficient, reliable and secure release of Oracle Linux.
- Development Infrastructure Administration - Administration of cloud based development infrastructure, developing tooling and providing guidance on how to efficiently consume cloud based resources.
- Developer Tooling and Services - Managing development services and developing tooling.
We are seeking an enthusiastic engineer with an eye for detail and capable of working in any of these areas. We work closely with a variety of engineering teams right across Oracle and all across the globe. As such the successfull candidate must have excellent communication skills and a willingness to communicate.
Release Management activities will involve understanding the existing process flow of how software gets released on Oracle Linux and providing input to the improvement of existing automation and tooling, and the development of new tooling.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides our developers with the necessary resources on demand to complete their jobs. The management of these services to ensure the necessary resources are available when required is vital to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of Oracle Linux.
Developer services such as source code management, build automation, and project management tooling are all key components in every software lifecycle. The configuration and maintenance of these services is vital, and ensuring minimum to no-downtime is achieved is a paramount goal for these mission critical services.
Responsibilities- Actively participate in the day-to-day monitoring and releasing of packages for Oracle Linux
- Maintain and enhance existing Release Management tooling
- Assist with the design and development of new Release Management automation and tooling
- Work with internal Oracle Linux teams in making improvements to the software release process.
- Help with administration of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resources, and the creation and administration of developer services.
- Investigate new methodologies and tooling, and advocate best practice around the deployment of developer services.
Qualifications:- 3+ years DevOps or Software Development experience
- Strong technical background, specifically in relation to using and maintaining Linux.
- Experience with Linux package management systems with specific focus on RPM based distributions.
- Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Proven shell scripting (bash in particular), and Python knowledge, knowledge of how to develop and debug in these environments.
- Good problem solving skills, and an openness to communicate across teams to assist in solving problems.
- Knowledge and experience using issue tracking systems such as Atlassian Jira a plus.
- An understanding and experience of using cloud and container technologies.
- Experience using source code management tooling such as git.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies: Kanban and Scrum a plus.
