We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team at MezTal and support a U.S.-based client in the defense and commercial sector. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing key accounting processes, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional with experience in financial operations and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the new obligation process and prepare periodic review reports.
• Ensure all obligations and financial documentation are properly reviewed and documented.
• Maintain and test Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure clarity and accuracy.
• Support audits, track discrepancies, and help implement corrective actions.
• Assist with annual close activities (commitments, expiring budgets, unearned revenue).
• Help the Accounting Operations team with aged receivables collection.
• Participate in system configuration and analysis for new organizational rollouts.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to U.S. government or DoD environments.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex accounting issues.
• Experience preparing reconciliations and reviewing financial reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with international teams.

Work Model

• Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in our Guadalajara office.
• Alignment with U.S. business hours may be required.
