The Product Engineer will provide engineering support and direction to internal and external customers for ConMet's business. Responsible for providing inputs and technical guidance to ConMet engineering teams for new product development and existing product improvements. Responsible for identifying root causes of product issues, developing solutions, and validating those solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Participates in cross-functional Quality planning to fulfill customer requirements.
- Partners with Engineering, AME, and Sales teams to prepare product and process proposals and recommendations.
· Implements continuous improvement in support of the ConMet Quality Policy.
· Participates in material review meetings as necessary to assist in determining the cause of non-conformances.
· Contributes to corrective action in response to non-conformances; assess whether a design modification would contribute to a more effective solution.
· Conducts design activities based upon all available customer specifications and quality requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conducts engineering activities in accordance with policies, plans, procedures, instructions, and standards under the direction of the Vice President of Engineering.
- Develop mechanical designs that meet customer specifications and established quality standards to ensure functionality, durability, and ease of manufacturing.
- Implement improvements in design and production processes to reduce costs, minimize cycle time, and maximize operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with customers and internal areas (manufacturing, quality, sales) to align technical requirements and ensure the delivery of effective and timely solutions.
- Perform and document validation tests and design verification to ensure functionality and compliance with technical specifications.
- Manage and update the technical documentation of the engineering area, including drawings, ECNs, test reports and specifications.
- Participate in non-conformance analysis and propose technical solutions to prevent the recurrence of quality problems in products.
- Define and supervise product and process tests, specifying equipment and methodologies necessary to guarantee the stability and reliability of the process.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement actions in the design and manufacture of products to guarantee the competitiveness and sustainability of the processes
Required Experience:
· Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
- Two to Five (2-5) years relevant engineering experience; commercial vehicle knowledge or commercial vehicle component knowledge desired.
Preferred Experience:
· Foundry manufacturing and finishing processes experience and knowledge
· Experience developing and maintaining quality documentation including Process Flow diagrams, PFMEA's, DFMEA's, Control Plans, APQP checklists, and Work Instructions
· Automotive or commercial vehicle experience highly preferred
· Experience with PLM systems / Teamcenter
