Position Overview: The Director of Quality for our Mexico operations will be responsible for building and leading our regional quality team, overseeing product and process quality for manufacturing and supplier operations in Mexico. This pivotal role will drive factory quality performance, coordinate supplier quality efforts, and work closely with internal global teams to ensure product excellence from production to customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy:Lead and expand the Quality team in Mexico, covering Quality Engineering, Incoming Inspection, and Supplier Quality functions.
- Define regional quality strategies, ensuring seamless alignment and execution with global operational and product goals.
- Effectively partner with global leadership and suppliers to maintain consistent quality execution and performance.
- Manufacturing & Operational Quality:Manage day-to-day quality assurance activities within Mexico-based production and refurbishment facilities.
- Oversee quality metrics and key performance indicators, including yield, DPPM, FPY, escapes, and field returns.
- Implement and enforce robust inspection criteria, comprehensive test validation procedures, and reliable traceability systems.
- Supplier Quality & Collaboration:Drive supplier audits, qualifications, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts across component and assembly suppliers.
- Ensure supplier compliance with regulatory requirements and company internal standards through scorecards and systematic performance reviews.
- Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement:Oversee the implementation of robust Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA) processes within Mexico.
- Utilize advanced data and analytical tools (e.g., FMEA, DOE, 8D) to drive significant improvements in both product and process quality.
- Champion and implement Lean Six Sigma principles to minimize variability and enhance overall process control.
- Compliance & Systems:Maintain and continuously improve ISO-compliant quality management systems (QMS), leading both internal and external audits.
- Provide strong support for comprehensive quality documentation, CAPA processes, critical process validations, and change control procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality leadership roles, with a strong preference for backgrounds in electronics or medical device manufacturing.
- Proven experience working with Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) / Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) partners in high-volume production environments.
- Demonstrated experience effectively collaborating within international, cross-functional teams.
- Skills:Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is a requirement.
- Expert-level proficiency in key quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, DOE, PFMEA, MSA, 8D, and CAPA.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
- Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Black Belt are highly advantageous.
