Position Summary:

The aluminum coating engineer is specialist in various powder coating process, this position, in conjunction with engineering groups, will lead the development of new e-product. Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of coatings principles (pre-treatment, paint application and curing step) is expected to be able to confer with vendors to communicate requirements and arrange for procurement of capital equipment or tools for new lines development while remaining within the allocated budget. This expert should have excellent organizational and communication skills, to support our aluminum products manufacturing and help drive continuous improvement in our processes. Develop and maintain the process AMEF, flowchart, work instruction sheets and all process documentation updated on time, using the appropriate mechanisms

Responsibilities:

• Develop and standardize coating processes and parameters to industrial group standards. Implement new ideas to improve safety, quality and productivity.
• Specify, quote, source, purchase and install new equipment and processes. Initiate purchasing of and the follow-up on fabrication of manufacturing equipment.
• Determines the components and tools necessary to definition of process flows, work methods and activities of the operational staff.
• Meet cost and timing objectives on all programs and projects.
• Achieve production goals according to the product specifications.
• Performs conventional engineering activities.
• Maintains extensive knowledge in specialty and a firm understanding of the principles and practices of related specialties.
• Provide leadership in developing coating expertise within the plant.
• Lead implantations of manufacturing processes with Technicians, Engineers and Global team from other areas.
• Support new program launches and acceptance of new processes.
• Responsible for training in and production in new equipment and / or processes
• Problem solving through analysis methods that lead to the root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions to reduce cost.
• Responsible for compliance with the department's metrics (Down time, Scrap, Change over time, Poka yokes efficiency)
• Technical support management.
• Responsible for the core tools (PFMEA, Diagram Flow)
• Responsible for the JSA (Job Safety Analysis) / Job Element Sheet / Standard Work Instructions
• Attendance to global council meetings.
• Responsible and maintain machine set up parameters updated.
• All other appropriate duties when required by BorgWarner.

Job Profile & Experience:

Profile:

• Engineering career
• Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical or similar.

• +3 years applicable powder coating experience
• Familiarity with spray and polymer applicators, powder coating systems, aluminum powder coating concepts, and industry best practices preferred.

• Proficiency communicating and presenting in English and Spanish.
