JOB DESCRIPTION: Significance
Is an automotive embedded systems/software expert, which supports and shall be supported by the persons and organizational entities that carry out systems and software activities during product development.
Provides expert competence in systems/software quality across KB/Bendix embedded projects
Targets
Ensures that:
the systems/software development processes are aligned with ASPICE and other quality initiatives
the systems/software engineers and project/quality management are trained on the development processes
the systems/software engineers are coached in following the process and ensuring quality work products
metrics and targets are defined and maintained for each project to track and report systems/software quality status
Position in the organization
Reports to the Bendix Systems/Software Quality division in a central role supporting multiple product lines
Works with other systems/software quality engineers as positions are made available and staffed
Aligns with KB global systems/software quality organization ensuring consistency across sites
Skills
At least 3 years experience in automotive/commercial vehicle electronic systems/software development
Detailed knowledge and experience in application of systems/software quality initiatives, including process improvements, design techniques, implementation methods, verification and validation, and tools per ASPICE and related quality improvement methods
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-national company with counterparts in other countries
Interdisciplinary systematic thinking / system comprehension / team player
Responsibilities
Responsible for systems/software quality activities within assigned project(s)
Develops and maintains systems/software quality metrics/targets and coaches teams in their use
Audits assigned projects, identifies deficiencies, and coaches teams on methods to improve
Contributes improvement ideas and lessons learned to global systems/software quality team for continuous improvement of the systems/software development process
Supports the Project Quality Manager in the definition of the project-specific QA Plan and ensures the necessary items relevant for systems/software quality are included.
Ensures that systems/software quality activities are fulfilled by appropriate resources on assigned project(s)
Supports systems/software quality discussions with customers on assigned project(s)
Informs the BU/CoC Systems/Software Quality Manager/Director in case of quality risks/ deviations/ conflicts with project team or customer direction (Escalation)
If required, aligns systems/software quality issues in advance with BU/ CoC Systems/Software Quality Manager/Director before presenting in Core Team
Ensures that their judgements regarding systems/software quality (within a pre-gate review and before software release) are aligned with customer and internal process/quality expectations
Ensures 3rd party software suppliers' processes are properly aligned and documented if applicable
Prepares & coaches systems/software teams and participates in internal and external ASPICE assessments
Reviews and approves software releases from the quality perspective
Authorities
Aligns with Project Quality Manager and Project Manager on systems/software quality expectations
Technical contributor to systems/software quality issues within the scope of the project deliverables and skillset
Works with the appropriate project team members (e.g., systems engineer, software engineer) to assure systems/software quality expectations are communicated, understood, and followed for assigned projects.
Coordinates and confirms systems/software quality expectations are in agreement with customers' expectations (and aligned with commitments on other projects across CoCs for the same customer) on assigned project(s)
Confirms systems/software quality expectations are at an acceptable level for each project gate and each customer release in order for the project to proceed
Requirements
Bachelors in Software Engineering/Systems Engineering/Computer Engineering or related degree (masters preferred)
At least 3 years experience in automotive/commercial vehicle electronic systems/software development
Participation in at least two ASPICE assessments (Provisional or Competent ASPICE assessor preferred)
