Job Description
Position Title: Metrology Laboratory Coordinator
Department: Quality
Area: Metrology Laboratory
Reports to: Quality Manager
Location: IMPRO INDUSTRIES MEXICO
Job Purpose
To coordinate and supervise all activities within the Metrology Laboratory, ensuring the accuracy, traceability, and reliability of all measurements. The role must ensure compliance with quality and environmental standards and international regulations. This position provides technical support to manufacturing, engineering, and quality departments, and drives continuous improvement within the metrology system and customer/regulatory compliance.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the calibration and verification system of measurement equipment in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.
- Ensure compliance with the quality management system based on IATF 16949:2016 requirements.
- Implement and follow up on MSA (Measurement System Analysis) studies.
- Apply and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for precision measurements and product validation.
- Program, operate, and validate CMMs using PC-DMIS and Calypso.
- Manage calibration traceability and control using Gage Track software.
- Conduct statistical analysis using Minitab for process and measurement system validation.
- Ensure compliance with environmental management system standards in accordance with ISO 14001.
- Participate in new product development, dimensional validations, and provide technical support using Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and implementation of corrective actions.
- Apply problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, etc.).
- Promote the use of quality and continuous improvement tools within the lab and support areas.
- Generate technical reports and maintain updated documentation for the metrology management system.
- Train and guide laboratory technicians in the correct use of instruments and procedures.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 to 5 years in metrology laboratories or quality departments, preferably in automotive or metal-mechanical industries.

- Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)

- Measurement Instruments and Equipment
- CMM Programming (PC-DMIS & Calypso)
- Calibration management software (e.g., Gage Track)
- Minitab
- Problem-solving methodologies
- Quality tools and continuous improvement methods
- Internal and external audits
- Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Language:
Advanced English is mandatory.
Must be proficient in technical and conversational English, as the company operates in a multicultural environment. Technical documentation, internal communication, and audit processes are conducted in English.
