Team overview and job responsibilities

We are looking for Purchasing Coordinator to join our Materials Team. Based in Nogales-Mexico; the candidate will Reporting to the Materials Manager, this position is responsible for Purchasing (MRP) and Logistics, inventory control and reduction (raw material as finished product), cost reduction activities through material cost savings.

Job responsibilities

• Supervise a team of 4-6 Material Buyers

• Supervise raw material to identify, solve and prevent shortages

• Negotiate with suppliers to ensure correct inventory levels avoiding expedited, short and over inventory.

• Monitor inventory levels to ensure we meet goals

• Ensure the timely and proper involvement of the purchasing team in new products and engineering changes to avoid obsolescence of raw material and finished product.

• Lead improvement projects in the materials area

• Negotiate with suppliers the introduction of a consignment model

• Ensure the availability of purchased material to support the manufacturing process in a J.I.T manner.

• Work with the Materials Management to help meet the organization's objectives.

• Tracks all material flow in your areas of responsibility and recommends changes as needed.

• Monitor the receipt, storage, and timely availability of all purchased material.

• Follow inventory rotation and audit procedures.

• Manage and control the development of the skills, processes and tools of the purchasing team (MRP) to ensure the achievement of the objectives through continuous improvement.

• Responsible for implementing the elements of ISO 14000, ISO45001, IATF16949 applicable to the purchasing process.

• Provide direction and coaching to employees.

• Have constant and effective communication with the CSR (Customer Service) department in relation to their requirements and fluctuations, to determine a date for the customer based on the availability of materials, production, and equipment.

Who are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in related field

• Supervisory experience required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the supply chain.

• English +90%

• Practical knowledge of MRP and ERP systems

• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO-45001, ISO-14000

• Working knowledge of United States and Mexico Environmental, health and safety standards.

• Excellent planning and forecasting skills.

• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to interact with internal and external clients.

• Supervision of multidisciplinary team

• Ability to participate as an auditor in quality systems.

• Certification in APICS preferably.
