Job Description
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records by managing the general ledger,
ensuring proper accounting entries, and supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes. This role plays a key
part in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting financial reporting and audit activities.
Job Responsibilities and Functions
Maintain and update the general ledger by accurately and timely recording all financial transactions.
Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and corrections.
Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including intercompany accounts, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other control accounts.
Analyze account variances and investigate discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting and audit purposes.
Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other finance teams to ensure proper transaction recording.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulations such as Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF), IFRS, and US GAAP.
Assist in preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
Provide accurate ledger data and documentation for tax reporting and compliance processes.
Participate in month-end and year-end close meetings, communicating progress and issues.
Monitor and manage fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations for Mexico, IFRS/IFRS 16, and US GAAP reporting.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing historical ledger data and financial analysis.
Recommend improvements in accounting processes to enhance efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably with exposure to general ledger functions.
Advanced English proficiency (B2 level or above).
SAP experience
Knowledge of Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF), IFRS and US GAAP.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Cash flow forecasting experience.
Experience reporting various financial results, including IFRS for group reporting, Mexico reporting, US reporting.
Experience in the automotive industry and international companies
