JOB SUMMARY

The Transport Engineer L2 is responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability of SCADA databases (historians) and associated systems. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of SCADA systems, time series data, database management, and system integration. The Transport Engineer L2 will lead efforts in troubleshooting, database optimization, and system enhancements, working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support operational excellence.

Role and Responsibilities

  • · Lead the maintenance, configuration, and optimization of SCADA databases to ensure accurate and efficient data flow across systems.
  • · Perform advanced data validation and implement processes to maintain the integrity and reliability of SCADA data.
  • · Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues related to SCADA systems and databases, ensuring timely resolution.
  • · Monitor system performance and data flow, implementing proactive measures to prevent downtime and ensure real-time monitoring and reporting.
  • · Develop and optimize stored procedures for exporting local SCADA historian data and integrating it with other systems.
  • · Design and generate advanced reports, providing actionable insights from SCADA data to stakeholders.
  • · Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their professional development and troubleshooting efforts.
  • · Collaborate with SCADA engineers, OT teams, and other departments to ensure seamless system operations and data integration.
  • · Drive the development and implementation of system enhancements and upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • · Maintain comprehensive documentation of SCADA databases, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • · Lead efforts in creating user manuals, troubleshooting guides, and training materials for SCADA system users.
  • · Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated issues related to SCADA database performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • · Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • · In-depth knowledge of SCADA systems, databases, and data collection processes.
  • · Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL, MySQL, or similar.
  • · Advanced expertise in SQL, including performance tuning, query optimization, and stored procedure development.
  • · Strong understanding of database design principles and system integration
  • · Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • · Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • · Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in energy, utilities, or industrial control systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OT (Operational Technology) environments.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure related to SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of T-SQL for building stored procedures.
