GENERAL NATURE and SCOPE

Possesses and applies knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization to lead the design and development of new or improved products. Manages major projects or portions of projects as well as carrying out design and engineering leadership tasks.

• Conduct evaluations of new potential technologies, materials, and processes using search tools, testing, and analysis.
• Solving complex innovation problems, requiring depth and breadth of expertise in metallurgy, product design and product usage.
• Provide technical leadership in the bur value stream by improving current processes, to improve product performance, reliability, and cost.
• Develop new product concepts in the bur and endodontic lines from the ideation stage through to product definition and support the full development through to commercial launch.
• Participate in cross-functional teams including RA, QA, QC, Operations, Purchasing, and Marketing to ensure product development requirements are met.

• Develop new product concepts in the bur and endodontic lines from the ideation stage through to product definition and support the full development through to commercial launch.
• Participate in and lead cross-functional teams including RA, QA, QC, Operations, Purchasing, and Marketing to ensure product development requirements are met, managing product and project risks.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• PhD in Metallurgical, Electromechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred. Masters degree with sufficient related technical experience will be considered.
• Experience in metallurgical processes including heat treatment, welding, centerless grinding, electroplating or similar processes required.
• At least 5 years of experience in an R&D or product development environment, managing projects of varying scope.
• Experience in medical device development an asset.
• Knowledge of PMP, IP, Quality Systems, GMP, Design control, ISO and FDA standards is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, multi-layered technical specifications) and ERP systems (e.g. Oracle).
• Familiarity and experience with the following software packages is an asset: VPM, MS Project, Office 365, Solidworks/Pro-E, Oracle.

• Comfortable presenting/training in front of groups as well as via phone.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong attention to detail/accuracy, meeting deadlines, and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
