We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer (minimum 3 years in automotive, verifiable) to lead and elevate our Quality Management System. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Core Tools, IATF 16949, and OEM claim management, coupled with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Quality System Management (IATF 16949): Serve as internal auditor, maintain compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
Core Tools Leadership: Develop, maintain and train on DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, MSA/R&R studies, SPC implementation and GD&T standards.
Root Cause & Corrective Actions: Lead 8D/RCA investigations for customer claims (Ford, GM, Stellantis, VW, Audi, Volvo), ensuring timely containment and systemic corrective actions.
Supplier & Customer Interfaces: Manage customer defect claim processes (CSR) with North American and European OEMs; negotiate containment, cost audits, and return of material processes.
New Product Launches: Own PPAP submissions, process validations, production trial runs, and sign-off for new product/line launches.
Quality Inspections & Team Management: Oversee and develop a multi-shift quality inspection team; set targets for FPY, scrap reduction and audit readiness.
Process Audits (VDA 6.3): Plan, execute and lead internal and supplier process audits; mentor team on VDA methodologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and R&D to ensure design-for-manufacturability and robust controls.
Reporting & Metrics: Maintain and communicate KPIs (PPM, DPPM, FPY, scrap, audit scores), prepare dashboard reports for Plant and Corporate leadership.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
Automotive Experience: Minimum 3 years in automotive quality engineering (Tier 1/2 or OEM), with verifiable achievements.
Core Tools Mastery: Proven hands-on expertise in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow Diagram, MSA/R&R, SPC and GD&T.
IATF 16949 Internal Auditor: Certified Internal Auditor with demonstrated track record of managing QMS audits.
RCA & 8D: Strong facilitation of formal root-cause analysis (5 Why / 8D) and systemic corrective action implementation.
Customer Claim Management: Direct experience handling CSR processes for major OEMs (Ford, GM, Stellantis, VW, Audi, Volvo).
PPAP & Launch Experience: Lead PPAP level 3 packages; manage process validations, safe launch and run-at-rate activities.
VDA 6.3 Certification: Credentials in conducting process audits to VDA 6.3 standards.
Leadership & Communication: High negotiation skills, effective communication, resilience under pressure and demonstrated cross-functional leadership.
Team Management: Experience building and guiding multi-shift inspection teams; capable of mentoring Q Inspectors.
Language: Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
