Job DescriptionBe a part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Data Center Business Services (DBS) team. We are combining the elasticity and utility of cloud services with the granular control, security, and predictability of on-premises infrastructure to deliver high-performance, high availability and cost-effective infrastructure services. As we are building and growing, we are seeking a high energy individual to step into a Business Analyst role.
This role requires a thinker with strategic vision and tactical prowess. We need you to identify gaps and communicate ideas, solutions and concerns as well as mitigation plans for future process development, iterations and the continuous improvement of them. You will be expected to recommend changes and support your positions on those changes using the data you report.
As a Business Analyst on the Data Center Business Services team, you will own the day to day bill validation function (receipt, review and validation, and approval) for our data center organization and will be integral to us meeting our financial and tactical business objectives. You should have a strong business and financial operations background with a track record of fixing things and a bias for action. Experience in the datacenter colocation or telecommunication industry is a big plus.
Candidate must be comfortable working across remote teams and possess the ability to compartmentalize tasks to separate and manage exceptions differently from the normal day to day. Responsibilities - Independent Problem Resolution -Work autonomously under minimal day-to-day guidance, performing multiple complex and diverse accounting support tasks. Demonstrate the ability to independently research and resolve business issues.
- Review, validate, and process invoices for timely payment to suppliers in Oracle Fusion Apps system, which includes, but not limited to, communicating and following up with internal Oracle teams and external suppliers.
- Ensure accuracy and validity of charges by doing audit and comparison of invoice pricing/rates, billed usage, and totals against purchases orders, contracts or related spend database
- Data entry of invoice and contract meta-data into a database for later consumption and analyses. This dataset has high visibility so attentional to detail and accuracy is a must
- Coordinate with suppliers and other team members to reconcile and track invoicing against purchase orders, identify and close out gaps to ensure invoicing is current and up to date.
- Reconcile, review, verify, and correct coding of documents prepared by others (Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Invoices) to ensure the accuracy of information
- Forecast & Actual support - variance write ups
- Perform other business analyst related activities and comparable level/type as assigned (e.g. quarterly accounting close, monthly metrics collection and preparation, termination savings.)
- Manage your own colo accounts for all inventory tracking, payment management, contract renewal awareness (ensuring negotiators are early informed for lease updates) funding requirements. With account management, it is expected that successful candidate will be comfortable driving strong supplier partnerships by ensuring service level gaps are closed, as well as driving for improvement efficiencies as business needs shift
- Communicate with suppliers, corporate accounts payable teams, and others to resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries regarding invoices and payment status
- Work under minimal day to day guidance and perform multiple complex and diverse accounting support tasks, ability to resolve AP related issues through independent research
Top Five RequirementsCommunication & Status - Effective communication is critical, especially when team members must
operate independently and still act as a cohesive team unit to external stakeholders. If you don't
want to communicate, this environment/role is not for you. You will be expected to provide consistent, valuable communication across teams and have the ability to drive all related tasks to closure as per process, including on time status reporting to peer stakeholders and executives.
SLA's & Reporting - Drive SLA's. This candidate must have the ability to drive team members, internal and external, to meet all SLA's. He/she must be able to work around/ remove obstacles and understand when escalation is needed to avoid impact to the project deployment/releases and business. This role is also accountable for efficient and effective monthly demand metrics such as ticket counts, consumption trends & resource needs to manage volumes.
Problem solving - Can you see risk and how to avoid it? This role requires someone that can spot issues, prioritize and mitigate in accordance with priorities and risk appetite. You must also know how to ask the tough questions of several different teams & get them to support the common goal. Problems can also have downstream impacts, so this role must be good with awareness of overarching project & timelines, identify and manage dependencies, plan to avoid surprises/risks as much as possible and be able to influence up and down the chain of command.
Organization - Business Operations in a start-up environment means keeping many projects on track while managing multiple processes, deliverables and tasks, yet, still running the day to day operations business needs across time zones. Agility is required as direction can frequently change on a dime with little notice and all other deliverables will still be due. We need an operational ninja with a black belt.
Change & Process - We need a visionary that can see opportunities for improvement and make changes quickly, even at only 70% baked to improve services to our customers now. This includes all aspects- writing up new process's, answering emails and support requests and being able to drive change in accordance with limited resources and compressed timelines effectively with awareness and inclusion across impacted teams.

- Support Your Team. You must be able to support your team members when demands heighten in other areas outside your core functions to ensure all business is kept at the level of service for the organization to not be impacted!
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business and/or relevant work experience
- Familiarity with datacenter colocation and cloud infrastructure, and working in a Data Center Business Operations team
- Power user of Oracle Fusion Application or other Oracle Cloud ERP suite of tools
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 8+ years' experience as an accounting or business analyst (or a combination of education/training/experience which provides an equivalent background)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Windows, and Outlook. (Having strong excel skills is the success to this role, along with exceptional attention to detail.)
- Prior work experience using enterprise level Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as Oracle Fusion, Oracle Cloud ERP, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards, and others
- Ability to effectively review and translate vendor contracts and agreements to ensure accuracy and validity of invoices and charges being paid
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people across multiple countries
- Excellent oral and written communications skills (English) with the ability to organize, analyze, and present data in a format appropriate to the intended audience
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Windows, and Outlook
- Experience in working and problem solving independently, to organize workload and priorities, and complete tasks on time
- A keen attention to details is a requirement as it is a large portion of the role
- Project and relationship management skills strongly desired
- Be comfortable with ambiguity and have strong critical thinking skills
