OVERVIEW:
Phenomenex Production Operations is seeking a Production Manager I to be responsible for one or more production units, totaling 10-20 people, under the direction of the Sr. Production Manager. The Production Manager will provide leadership, organization, and technical support as needed. When technical challenges are high, span of responsibility will be narrower.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Supervisors are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is performed primarily indoors in an office, laboratory, or warehouse setting; wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate; higher levels may be prevalent in laboratories or warehouse settings. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel.
SAFETY:
Supervisors are responsible for the safety of their employees by creating and maintaining a safe work environment. New employees must be provided with safety instruction during the first two (2) weeks of employment and receive, as applicable, annual refresher safety training. Supervisors must operate equipment safely and report any unsafe work conditions or practices to their Management and the Safety Manager. Supervisors must insure that employees work in a safe manner. If there is an accident or near miss, they must submit a Supervisor's Incident Investigation Report to the Safety Manager and Human Resources Department within 24 hours of notification.
MATERIALS HANDLED:
The salary range for this role ($102,433 - $112,700 base) is min-mid range. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

OVERVIEW:
Phenomenex Production Operations is seeking a Production Manager I to be responsible for one or more production units, totaling 10-20 people, under the direction of the Sr. Production Manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and optimize production processes to meet and exceed objectives for efficiency, throughput, and on-time delivery.
- Create a positive work environment for all staff so that they feel motivated and empowered to meet goals and objectives and are appropriately recognized for their contributions.
- Make decisions and recommendations about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement. Coordinate, set up, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production operations.
- With QC/QA, ensure adherence to prescribed procedures, achieving first pass quality results which meet or exceed objectives. Performs investigation and implements corrective actions within CAPA system.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles in area(s) of responsibility. Develop programs to improve performance for key metrics for area(s).
- Evaluate competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve objects. Review performance formally on an annual basis.
- Create and adjust production and staff schedules as needed to meet objectives. Ensure proper adherence to all Phenomenex policies, as regards Safety, Quality, and Time/Attendance.
- Partner with R&D and Marketing to transition new products to Production. Using established templates, perform analyses as needed, including capacity, staffing, product costs, and ROI.
This role, while advertised in many cities online, is ONLY AVAILABLE onsite at our Torrance, California facility .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma, or equivalent, with at least 7+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment -OR- an Associate's degree with 5+ years' experience.
KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES OF SUCCESS:
- Analytical thinking and presentation of ideas.
- Sound judgment and reasoning.
- Provides leadership and able to motivate, direct, and lead others.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or closely related field.
- Strong organizational skills, plans, and assigns resources in a detailed fashion.

- This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
