Honeywell Aerospace Technology's "Automation & Digitization" team is looking for a Senior Ignition Developer to work in the Digitization Team to support Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) and Operations. An ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated individual with a thorough understanding of data collection and visualization technologies and proven experience in Ignition (Inductive Automation), Kepware (OPC), SQL Database, Kafka, etc. The idea candidate would also have experience in manufacturing automation software such as C#, Python, PLC and familiar with Industry 4.0 technology like IIoT sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machining Learning (ML) modeling. The candidate must have strong problem solving and analytical skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills.
The Senior Ignition Developer will lead the development of Performance Management tools such as OEE, enable development of future Ignition apps, enable data collection from automated equipment controllers, deploy manual operator interfaces and interfaces to other Manufacturing Systems like Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) utilities. He/she will follow guidance from the SME for Ignition Apps, will collaborate with IT and key stake holders, and will lead all development activities for 1-2 sites (in-house and coordinate with external third parties).
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Operations Team
o to integrate new and/or existing equipment and interfaces to other MES and SPC utilities as needed
o to define workstation workflow for automated equipment controller utilizing standard work principles
o Meet with Operations team members, often in the manufacturing areas to build business requirements and understand the needs
• Create highly visual documentation (flowcharts, process maps, sequence diagrams) to help all stakeholders reach a common understanding
• Follow standard established solution architecture and principles
• Compliance and Documentation:
o Document system requirements and design, create system test plan and test cases; execute test cases and document test results to support software validation activities.
o Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, standard operating procedures, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
o Conduct training sessions and workshops for end-users to ensure proper understanding and utilization of Ignition dashboards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Communicate status updates to key stakeholders
o Work with other team members (including Operations) to assess risk during project phases (initiation, pre-validation assessment, and implementation).
o Participate and collaborate in cross-functional teams including Quality, Adv Manufacturing Eng, and Operations to gather & implement requirements and define the project scope for new Dashboards or Applications
o Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development
• Process Optimization and Automation:
o Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes through the integration and optimization of Ignition dashboards.
• Project Management:
o Design, develop, and launch standard Ignition dashboards upon consulting with end-users, understanding the usage and work requirements
o Create a work breakdown structure (WBS) as inputs for project plan, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables
o Recognize factors that could negatively affect project timelines / deliverables and effectively communicate impact to direct manager.
You Must Have:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience working with automation technology in a manufacturing environment, with a track record of leadership and successful project delivery.
• Ignition certified (Inductive Automation)
