• Identify, retrieve, and combine diverse manufacturing and engineering data sets and apply analytical methodology to generate insights to support business decision-making, answer questions, and solve problems.
• Work with users from all areas - manufacturing, engineering, and business operations to name a few - to prospect for business insights and find patterns in data that could be valuable for the business.
• Communicate those derived insights and patterns, ideally through visualizations and always in business terms, to people with a passion for analytics but less experience in statistical methods and processes.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest analytical techniques and recommend their use where needed.
• Work closely with other data scientists, data wranglers, data engineers, digital product teams, and stakeholders in a wide variety of departments across all of John Deere's electronics manufacturing and design facilities in Fargo, USA, Torreón, Mexico, and Lonikand, India.

What Skills You Need

• Experience using SQL and one or more statistical programming languages (R, Python, etc.).
• Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis and data gathering techniques.
• Experience creating effective data visualizations.
• Excellence in verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of various business functions.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Proficiency in the R programming language using Posit (formerly known as RStudio).
• Experience with interactive tool development (Power BI, R Shiny, Ignition, etc.).
• Experience using Databricks and the John Deere Enterprise Data Lake (EDL).
• Demonstrated experience using quantitative analytical skills, such as advanced data visualization, statistical analysis, randomized testing, predictive modeling, forecasting, optimization, and/or machine learning.
• Ability to simplify and communicate complex subjects to all departments, skill levels, and levels of the organization .
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team with an emphasis on persuasion, tact, and negotiation.
• Previous or current experience in a Data Scientist / Data Wrangler / Data Engineer role.
• Experience working in an electronics manufacturing facility.

Education

• University Degree in a Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
