THE ROLE: The Manufacturing Engineer will establish the overall Manufacturing strategy for Sensus/Xylem product lines. The successful candidate will embrace a team-oriented manufacturing-driven environment and will bring experience designing, implementing, and sustaining Manufacturing Product/Processes.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Act as first level escalation point for manufacturing/process issues.
- Lead efforts to initiate both temporary and permanent manufacturing changes.
- Work with local Flextronics teams and Sensus cross-functional teams to assist toward resolution of production challenges.
- Define and implement manufacturing process from new product launch to full release.
- Provide and review hourly capacity through cycle time analysis.
- Document and maintain process maps and design of floor layout.
- Create/ modify/ review manufacturing work instructions.
- Assist to maintain previously designed and deployed manufacturing equipment.
- Continuously refine and improve manufacturing processes, methods, and metrics to ultimately reduce product cost.
- Identify, analyze, root cause, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered by the test and/or process.
- Lead/Partner with LSS (Lean Six Sigma) counterparts for continuous improvement initiatives and cost savings opportunities.
- Analyze and quantify data to resolve process, test, and operational issues.
- DFx (Design for manufacturability/assembly)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience
- Knowledge and experience with Product/Process Engineering
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes: soldering (including solder joint characteristics), conformal coating, adhesive bonding, welding, and precision mechanical assembly
- Strong understanding of IPC (Institute of Printed Circuit Board) standards
- Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Lean Six Sigma concepts.
- MS Office software applications
- Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills
- Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated; able to demonstrate initiative and operate independently.
- Desire and ability to learn new tools and design techniques.
- Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on cost control, reliability and manufacturability issues and maintains aggressive development schedules.
- Display organizational and leadership skills in a project team environment.
