About the Role: Accounting Analyst
The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for the accurate and timely accounting of General Ledger (GL) transactions under both USGAAP and Mexican GAAP frameworks. The role involves analyzing, documenting, and recording complex accounting operations in accordance with Laureate's Global Accounting Policies, internal controls (SOX), and financial reporting requirements. This position reports directly to the FS Accounting Specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and analyze GL transactions including accrued expenses, prepaids, fixed assets, liabilities, and other BS & P&L accounts.
- Execute non-recurring transactions such as mergers, stock/entity sales.
- Calculate and record revenue recognition and accounts receivable based on academic calendars.
- Prepare and upload monthly account reconciliations in EPM Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS).
- Perform bank reconciliations for revenue, expenses, investments, and other transactions.
- Validate and post manual and semi-automated journal entries ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
- Prepare and document financial statement footnotes and supporting documentation.
- Assist in internal and external audits (including PwC), ensuring proper control compliance.
- Support policy implementation and technical communication related to accounting within the organization.
- Download and review reports from EPM FCC for testing and control purposes.
- Participate in initiatives to improve accounting processes, systems efficiency (Power BI / Power Apps), and workflows.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related economic/administrative fields.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in general accounting, preferably as a Senior Analyst.
- Strong knowledge of USGAAP and Mexican GAAP.
- Background in external audit or working in a Big Four firm is a plus.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Oracle PeopleSoft.
- Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience in preparing and posting journal entries and reconciliations.
- Intermediate English (spoken and written) required.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
