Sensata Technologies is seeking a Field Application Engineer to interface directly with customers for new business opportunities and to lead the development of technical sales content that increases customer acquisition and retention. The ideal candidate is an explorer and educator who will enlighten our community of partners and customers by creating tools that make the complicated simple. The candidate should be comfortable engaging with various stakeholders, including engineering, marketing, sales, operations, and customers. Sensata is a leader in the industrial space, so we would like to work with someone who can help us continue to provide thought leadership to the marketplace. The candidate should have attention to detail and the ability to translate technical topics into easy-to-understand concepts for audiences.
Primary responsibilities of this role include understanding customer applications, gathering customer requirements, delivering technical training to stakeholders, developing sales enablement tools, and providing technical support to stakeholders. In addition, the position offers opportunities for a strong and high-performing individual for future progression with the team. This role reports to the Director of Technical Customer Support.
This role is based in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The role has approximately 15% travel within Mexico. The position may require travel to the continental USA a couple times in the year.
General Responsibilities • Utilizes advanced knowledge of engineering principles & practices in the design, development, analysis and release of products throughout the product life cycle • Present in regular meetings with customers to provide an emphasis on technical problem solving. Supports existing customers on new product development projects under development • Communicate business and technical information between the customer and Sensata • Develop and maintain an in-depth technical understanding of Sensata's products and competitor product offerings • Leads design review sessions, both customer and internal, as required; this includes conducting drawing and specification reviews with customers • Leads failure analysis examinations and prepare failure analysis reports of findings • Ensure projects meet customer requirements and quality standards • Perform engineering analyses. Review product specifications and utilize computer aided engineering applications to apply conditions, replicate performance, and evaluate the manufacturability of products • Help develop and refine 'standard' product configurations that capitalize on the company's strengths and products. Provide onsite technical assistance to the sales team at industry trade shows and customer demonstrations • Negotiate technical specifications • Respond to requests for proposals and assist in the preparation of quotations for standard and custom products • Establish and maintain customer engineering relations
Experience / Qualifications • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience. • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Desired Qualifications
Ability to travel within USA and Mexico
Experience with troubleshooting software-enabled (firmware) hardware is a plus
