Job Description
The Infotainment Embedded Software Supervisor is responsible for managing the design and development of embedded software for Ford's in-vehicle infotainment system to support applications that provide Audio, Tuner, Media, phone, voice commands, user settings, vehicle interfaces and the necessary tools development to support feature validation including instrumentation and monitoring of Analytics and Diagnostics. The responsibilities also include being able to review the Architecture, design, code and test cases and direct the team to resolve a variety of issues and make quality software releases.
Responsibilities
Lead an agile development team of software engineers to create user interface, applications, and middleware software for Ford's in-vehicle infotainment system
Lead the definition, design, and development of high-quality software through the whole SDLC that meets feature requirements and delivery schedule
Create a highly collaborative and motivated team environment to create a best in-class infotainment system that delivers exciting features to customers
Manage software quality through design reviews, code reviews, software configuration management, and rigorous testing at all levels of software development
Lead team in developing Analytics and Diagnostic dashboards that can help detect Customer issues quickly while also helping enhance features by providing a view on the Customer preferences thereby helping build the Next Generation Infotainment Products.
Drive established Agile development methods, execute the role of a scrum master, support the Product Owner (PO)/Technical Program Manager (TPM) to breakdown the specifications/requirements into actionable epics and stories, and manage the backlogs & sprints with efficient planning avoiding wasted efforts.
Work closely with Software Engineers and Architects to develop the best technical designs and approaches for our customers
Lead test engineers to create test cases, support test case automation, and execute the appropriate suite of tests at each software development phase and additional tools to support validation.
Hire team members and mentor/train software engineers/Interns/FCG's to develop/enhance the team's capability to deliver innovative infotainment features on time with quality
Set yearly team objectives and conduct year-end performance reviews
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering degree
10+ years of software design and development experience on embedded, mobile, or consumer electronic platforms
7+ year of infotainment software development experience in the automotive industry
5+ years of embedded software development experience
5+ years of C/C++ programming language software development experience
3+ years of experience leading Software development teams utilizing functions and features of QNX, Android or Linux operating system
3+ years of software architecture systems experience developing embedded software products
3+ years of experience with software development and productivity tools (e.g. Github, JIRA, Confluence, QNX Momentics, Android Studio)
2+ years of experience providing technical guidance to software engineers to design and build embedded software products.
2+ years of experience working on Analytics tools for Data instrumentation and monitoring
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering degree
12+ years of software design and development experience on embedded, mobile, or consumer electronic platforms
9+ year of infotainment software development experience in the automotive industry
7+ years of embedded software development experience on microcontrollers
7+ years of C/C++ programming language software development experience
7+ years of experience leading Software development teams utilizing functions and features of QNX or Linux operating system
4+ years of software architecture experience developing infotainment systems
4+ years of experience providing technical guidance to software engineers to design and build infotainment systems
Proven ability to deliver complex solutions in an intensely collaborative product creation environment
Working knowledge and experience developing infotainment feature technology, such as Audio, Tuner/HD/DAB, SiriusXM navigation, projection, voice recognition, media, phone, tuner, and vehicle interfaces
Creative and inventive mindset, ability to derive and implement new features using emerging product technologies and data analytics
Demonstrated ability to build and grow a team to become highly skilled and productive
Experience with automotive product development process and quality experience (i.e., A-SPICE, FMEA, Agile etc.)
Experience with Agile methodology and with sprints, backlogs, iterations, epics, user stories, and understanding of continuous integration/continuous development environments
Excellent written and oral communication skills
