About the Role:
The Digital Content Editor (DCE) works with the Digital Content Delivery Team to develop quality digital content for students and teachers of English internationally. The DCE works to publish a wide variety of digital components including digital student's books, workbooks, presentation tools, practice apps and assessment. Working alongside the publishing team, DCEs ensure content fulfils market and business needs. The role involves full engagement with the content and input into the look and feel of the digital components.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop project content to ensure that products are suitable for the specified markets and that quality standards are maintained.
- Brief, monitor and liaise with third party suppliers and freelance contributors/editors to ensure work is appropriate and of a high quality.
- Ensure continuity and maintenance of house style across projects.
- Work within project teams on all content and presentation decisions, maintaining successful, relevant communication.
- Work with the relevant editorial teams to conduct desk research.
- Liaise with digital authors, and assess and monitor their work for quality, suitability and timely delivery.
- Support the publishing team in the scoping of projects, creating project specification documentation and writing editorial guidelines to facilitate the translation of print to digital.
- Ensure all company procedures and best-practice guidelines are observed and implemented.
- Work with in-house authoring and content production tools to develop prototypes and scopes and to brief and train suppliers.
- Develop and maintain metadata and tagging briefs for suppliers.
- Review content at relevant stages to ensure that it meets the brief and is quality assured.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of instructional design and appreciation of what makes a good digital activity.
- Appreciation for a wide range of teaching and learning situations.
- Knowledge of digital publishing processes and how they impact content development, and time and cost implications.
- Attention to detail, quality control and an ability to engage with content at the highest level.
- Experience of working with a range of new media and digital publishing projects.
- Experience of using digital publishing systems.
- Experience of successful team working.
Desirable
- Experience of market-focused ELT publishing and/or teaching experience.
- Experience of working with a range of new media and digital publishing projects.
- Demonstrable ELT/EFL teaching experience, in a primary, secondary or adult setting.
- Knowledge of a second language.
