Title: Tooling Development Manager

Function: Manufacturing Engineering

Main Responsabilities:

Provides daily supervision of administrative and technical issues involving a functional group of engineers and engineering support personnel. This supervisory position provides work direction concerning cost, quality, safety, environmental and schedule of engineering work or projects to a large group of six or more direct reports in Tooling Development. Work at this level typically involves two or more competencies or disciplines across multiple products and/or a major project/process that requires integration of engineering disciplines, or engineering functions for tool development. Responsibilities may include working outside functional or contract group, leading medium to large sized cross- functional teams, and providing work direction to lower level Manufacturing Engineering supervisors.

• Manages day-to-day and long-term project activities of a staff of engineers and technicians responsible for developing and maintaining the data and systems that drives efficient, consistent, cost-effective manufacture of current and future product while meeting all required safety and quality standards.
• Coordinates the manufacturing and/or distribution functions for planning and installation of new products, processes and manufacturing projects.
• Directs the activities of limited resources in support of specific functions (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Manager/Business Unit Manager) on budgets, scheduling, and tools and people resources.
• Understands and develops the core competencies and actively pursues improving the underlying science and maintaining the discipline of standardized improving processes. Applies new technology and processes that further improve overall manufacturing quality and consistency. Provides expert (advanced) technical assistance and troubleshooting; reviews technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems.
• Maintains core expectations for personnel and identifies current skills and plans to increase skills in core competencies while providing support, training, counsel and career development advice to engineers to ensure their ongoing job satisfaction and professional development.
• Performs administrative duties related to performance management, salary pay plan, succession planning, training and development of direct reports to maintain core competencies and build new capabilities in personnel.
• Manages his production pay plans of the tool shop wage personnel.
• Leverages enterprise information and encourages best practice adoption while representing Tooling Development in cross- functional and inter-unit projects.

What Makes You Stand Out:

• Knowledge of engineering systems, tools and databases

• Understands the Product Delivery Process (EPDP
• Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities
• Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process

Education:

• Mechanical, Materials or Mecatronics Engineering Degree
