JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary:
This position is for a lead role in the Advanced Engineering group situated in Monterrey Mexico. The team is responsible to support the forward-looking company Technology and Product Roadmaps. These tasks include technology scouting, researching viable technologies, and developing form/fit working protypes, which are then installed on-vehicle for functional and performance evaluation. These working prototypes are developed with form/fit in mind for a handoff to the business unit, to facilitate the transition to market.
Essential Functions:
Cross functional team leadership, resulting in: detailed systems-level definition, design using state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools, test data analysis, completing final implementation, as well as lab/HIL verification, and on-vehicle testing.
Provide domain guidance to ensure prototypes are designed with high mechanical structural integrity to meet the commercial vehicle electrical and physical environment specs (e.g. SAE J1455 in North America).
Provide guidance for vehicle level testing to ensure proper system operation within the vehicle architecture, and across subsystems.
Work closely with wider KB Global Advanced Engineering team, to participate in detailed project reviews.
Engage with universities and explore possibilities to help achieve the objectives above.
Knowledge:
Technical analysis, engineering calculations, structural / thermal FEM calculations.
Data acquisition & control, test equipment & instrumentation, test standards & procedure development.
Document control methods with systems for engineering drawings, specifications, test procedures, test reports.
Able to evaluate test data and create valid, actionable conclusions.
Confident with technical presentations to internal and external customers.
Knowledge of air brake systems a plus.
Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis; as these pertain to component and system-level risk.
Experience:
At least 8 years related engineering experience with progressively responsible positions.
Strong Business acumen and Project Management experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in technical university settings preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in Matlab, Simulink, Trucksim/Carsim type tools.
Proficient in CAD tools for mechanical design and simulation.
Proficient in electrical circuit design, schematic entry, and PCB layout tools.
Proficient in vehicle communications tools, such as SAE J1939 CAN.
Proficient in rapid prototyping tools, such as dSPACE AutoBox.
Good Creativity and Ideation skills for innovative solutions.
Has good knowledge transfer skills to ensure team focus and effectiveness.
Lead multi-discipline teams.
Cross-culture sensitivity and experience a plus.
Education:
Master's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic engineering, with strong background in Electrical Engineering, with required with 8 years' experience.
Additional degrees related to Automotive Engineering a plus.
