Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Virtualization Infrastructure Management: Design, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated components.
Server Virtualization: Create, configure, and optimize virtual machines (VMs) to meet the organization's computing needs. Work to define and deliver SOP's for the operational team that performance day to day VM actions.
Resource Optimization: Ensure the efficient use of resources (CPU, memory, storage) across virtualized environments, implementing resource allocation and load balancing as needed.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
Security: Implement and maintain security best practices for virtualized environments, including patch management and access controls.
Capacity Planning: Monitor resource usage trends and plan for capacity expansion as necessary to support business growth.
Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize virtualized infrastructure for optimal performance.
Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network and storage administrators, to ensure seamless integration of virtualization solutions.
Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors to stay updated on product updates, licenses, and support agreements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are a plus.
Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and related technologies.
Experience with virtualization management tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Knowledge of storage and networking concepts related to virtualization.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
3-5 years hands-on experience as a virtualization administrator
3-5 years hands-on experience as Linux and/or Windows Systems Administrator
Additional Skills / Experience a plus:
Experience with cloud providers/infrastructure: AWS, Azure
Experience with containers and Kubernetes
Experience managing Atlassian Suite
SQL Query optimization
Continuous integration/continuous deployment, GitOps, etc.
Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

As a VMware Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining virtualization solutions to ensure the efficient operation of our IT infrastructure. This position will act as SME for the VMWare expertise on the IT Infrastructure Team. They will engage daily with the operations team that performs routine SOP's to create and manage virtual assets. They will engage frequently across key IT Towers such as storage, network, security, applications and data center teams.
