This role is in charge of providing Database support for multiple applications in production and other environments including cloud. Liaise with IT Infrastructure teams and the application support team.

What you'll be doing

• Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the PROD/test/Training and QA application environments.
• To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
• Responsible for problem escalation to Microsoft SQL product support team and third parties as appropriate.
• Responsible for Co-ordination of Infrastructure issue with the Infrastructure and System DBA team.
• Responsible for setups of new databases on Windows servers
• Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
• Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
• Responsible for performing refreshes of data from production databases into test and development databases.

What you'll bring

• Proven MS-SQL Database Senior Administration experience. (5+ years)
• Experience and know-how of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL (AlwaysOn Availability Groups, High Availability Disaster Recovery, etc)
• Experience on SQL Server Database Engine internals and SQL Server Components (i.e. SSRS - SQL Server Reporting Services, SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), SSAS - SQL Server Analysis Services)
• Performance tuning (T-SQL knowledge)
• Proven experience working in Cloud environments like AWS, Azure, Google Platform, etc.
• Experience working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
• Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
• Practical experience in performance tuning of MS-SQL databases as well as specific SQL statements
• Experience in other DB platforms like PostgreSQL, Oracle is highly preferred.
• Practical experience in analysing infrastructure bottlenecks and infrastructure sizing
• Application know-how and tuning experience SQL Production servers
• Able to follow-through on tasks and small projects
• Strong analytical skills and communication skills
• Experience working on team implementing COTS application with high number of concurrent users.
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science or a related field with systems experience preferred. 7+ years of system experience, including 3+ years on large enterprise applications, in developing and/or supporting applications to solve business problems. Interact with senior management, negotiate, and manage conflict
• At least one of the following industry certifications is desired:

  • Microsoft Azure Database Administrator
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified Database Specialist
  • Google Cloud Engineer Associate
