The Applied Research Farm Manager is a berry agronomist with experience in field management and/or technical support. The Regional Applied Research Farm Manager reports to the Global Applied Research Manager, works directly with the global R&D team, and collaborates closely with the Commercial Team.
This position is based in Tala, Jalisco, Mexico.
?ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Lead Research Farm horticultural management.
- Develop and lead a professional farm management team, empowering the improvement of the team's skills and abilities, creating a valued career path within R&D and other departments.
- Design, Plan, coordinate and collaborate on horticultural experimentation.
- Establish and coordinate the internal advanced selection and new variety trials.
- Subjective and quantitative data collection on advanced selections and new varieties at internal Research location.
- Implement cutting-edge technologies and science for monitoring, evaluation, and solving technical problems related to the agricultural management of Berries.
- Shares the collected observations on selections to the AR teams, commercial team, and Breeders.
- Routine reporting of research results to various audiences.
- Collaborates with the AR Lead in reviewing and preparing materials for marketing and training.
- Collaborates with the breeding team to help them identify the selection needs of zero-chill production areas.
- Develop strong knowledge of the breeding pipeline to support the breeding team with selection advancement.
- Collaborate with third parties partners to develop studies related to areas of interest for the program.
- Collaborate with Production Research on nursery-related research projects when needed.
- Continuously works to improve cross-department collaboration.
?REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING:?
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, horticulture, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in horticultural management.
- Desirable experience working in an R&D environment.
- Experience working with and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Meticulous and organized with data, desirable knowledge in statistical analysis.
- Good written and oral presentation skills in English and Spanish
- Working effectively with different departments and stakeholders.
