What You'll Be Doing:
- Monitor, maintain and properly report business unit financial information to management. Work with management to develop, implement, and monitor business plans that improve return on assets. Accurately report gross profit margin, analyze trends and prepare recommendations for improvements to management. Prepare and analyze periodic financial reports for management. Reports must be concise and provide meaningful, actionable information.
- Analyze and interpret accounting and operational information to improve EBITDA for the business unit.
- Supervise plant accounting function. Manage and develop department staff to a high level of proficiency, integrity, and efficiency to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department and providing coaching and counseling to enhance performance and development of the team. Effective leadership and teamwork skills are essential to success in this role.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, monthly financial reports and forecasts for the transformer business unit, according to timelines established by the Corporate Controller. Maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), to analyze and report variances.
- Monitor the annual financial plan and monthly forecast for the Transformer business (particularly material, labor and overhead costs) ensuring achievement of financial objectives and corrective actions for deviations. Prepare and maintain financial analysis with supporting documentation for the business unit director and other executive management as requested.
- Review and approve all journal entries and account reconciliations for the business to ensure accurate financial reporting. Ensure compliance with all Corporate Accounting procedures and statutory reporting requirements. Report deviations promptly to the Operations Controller.
- Develop and conduct periodic audits of financial data. Work with external auditors during the year-end audit work.
- Compare actual cost to quotes and engineering estimates to identify root causes of variances and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with evaluating capital requirements for the plant. Perform financial analysis to support the business case for investment.
- Ensure accurate reporting of all material and labor at a work order level, including scrap and returned material.
- Participate in cost savings and continuous improvement projects.
- Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure that the balances are supported and accurate. Review monthly with Finance leadership. Promptly report any material changes in business conditions, asset impairments or potential liabilities that are not reflected on the balance sheet.
- Actively participate in the sales forecasting process, focusing on manufacturing capacity and constraints to maximize revenue and earnings.
- Conduct business analysis to recommend sourcing alternatives to Purchasing (i.e., make/buy decisions.)
- Participate in and audit annual physical inventory verifications. Monitor periodic cycle counts and identify root causes and corrective actions for variances. Review excess and obsolete inventory reports and record adequate reserves. Analyze inventory activity to reduce excess inventory. Monitor inventory usage data for waste and excess scrap. Review processes for improvement in material usage.
- Develop work center labor and overhead rates for the plant.
- Ensure accurate transfer pricing for intercompany sales and support marketing with market-level pricing analysis for the Transformer business in North America.
- Degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of controlling and/or heavy cost accounting experience in a medium to large manufacturing environment
- Experience working for a company with cross-border operations
- Bilingual, English and Spanish
- Experience with job costing system
- ??????Previous experience working with an ERP system
- MBA or CPA (or candidate thereof) would be ideal
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Business partnering with all functional areas of operations and finance.
