Job Description Summary
The Aero Controls Retrofits Engineer will support and lead the requisition, design, structuring, validation and commissioning of control systems for Aero GT and interaction with other systems.
This role is critical in driving a team culture of technical system & domain depth, on-time quality execution and strong customer-focused mindset.
The selected candidate will be responsible for Technical & Schedule Risk Identification and Mitigation across complete Controls Scope.
The Controls Engineer focused on Aero Packages retrofits will be responsible for one or more projects/ programs.
The overall goal of the role is 'make the Aero Customizations and Upgrades project successful'.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Empowered project level decision maker
• Project ownership from ITO-COD for high risk complex projects as defined by internal risk review
• Support ITO/ Proposal efforts
• Work and Lead in an Agile software methodology
• Support and influence product requirements definition
• Lead globally and be accountable for overall Control System Requirements definition and management
• Drive overall Architecture, top level design, verification, validation and commissioning requirements
• Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements, goals and margins are defined and managed
• Support & influence comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, new article and customer system Software Acceptance Tests (SwATs/FAT), site pre-operation, startup and commissioning.
• Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements/ tasks
• Partner with Project Managers/GDLs and End customers to establish Projects Baseline Master Schedule and requirements
• Lead and promote customer discussions/reviews for an improved controls solution and customer experience and expectations
• Drive consistent solutions across all Aero controls Product lines
• Demonstrate System Level thinking
• Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal GE groups as well as with external customers. Responsible for establishing Controls credibility and brand
• Be accountable for Controls cost and schedule targets working with functional managers
• Provide clear communication to the team and the business leaders

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
• Proved experience on Controls Engineering projects execution
• Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
• Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to completion.
• Demonstrated Technical writing expertise
• Demonstrated experience in working successfully in technical leadership of a diverse team.

Desired Characteristics

• Design experience in Aero GT
• Experience in design & application of GE power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems.
• Strong experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project mgt. or EPCs
• Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and/or Plant controls knowledge / experience.
• Experience on Controls Field Support
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
