Global Institute of Educational Innovation (GIEI) is aimed at creating a pole of educational data and center for excellence at educational research. GIEI is composed of several active research groups within an Excellence Research Lab (ERL), a Living Lab & Data Hub (LL & DH), and a collection of educational entities (TecLabs) responsible for dissemination, promotion, and training of the faculty in educational research and innovation. The institute brings professionals from every corner of the world together to establish a core of experts that tackle the current educational challenges and form the future of education.

The Living Lab and Data Hub (LL & DH) is part of the GIEI and serves as a platform to provide a thriving environment for performing groundbreaking experimental educational research within Tecnologico de Monterrey. This area acts as a bridge between several stakeholders, including faculty members, institutional decision-makers, and international collaborators and researchers. Living Lab & Data Hub also offers an open repository of educational data that can be accessible not only by all members of Tecnológico de Monterrey but also by international researchers.

About the position

Does the idea of leading a research group within an Excellence Research Lab excite you? We encourage you to explore this vacant position, Leader of the Educational Innovation Research Team, at Tecnológico de Monterrey. The Leader of the Educational Innovation Research Team will have the opportunity to strengthen and to expand the research skills while immersing oneself in a rewarding and engaging professional environment with a team of national and international researchers. As a member of the Excellence Research Lab, you will work collaboratively with other research teams inside Tecnológico de Monterrey, TecMilenio, and other global institutions to produce cutting-edge educational outcomes as a result of high-impact research projects. Each Educational Innovation Research Team is composed of two main members (senior research faculty) and a number of junior faculty members and postdoctoral researchers. The Leader coordinates the operation of the team and assures effective collaboration with other research teams within the Excellence Research Lab and monitors the productivity of the team members. The Leader is also responsible for attracting national and international funds for the operation of the research team while transferring the fund-attraction expertise to junior members of the team.

Expected responsibilities

• Remaining updated and aware of the ongoing educational research and future trends at the international level.
• Supporting members in the process of academic production.
• Providing high-quality service, and coordinating the day-to-day operations necessary for the team to successfully manage its portfolio of programs.
• Working and integrating multidisciplinary research projects with professors from different disciplines.
• Working with different stakeholders and building a strong network of researchers in the mentioned areas.
• Teaching related courses at Undergraduate and graduate levels (research faculty are expected to conduct half load of teaching in comparison to the teaching faculty).

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate Degree in Education, Data Science, Computer Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities or other areas that may have an interface with Education.
• A substantial academic publication record in high impact journals (SNI level 2 or 3 for candidates inside Mexico is desirable).
• An outstanding record of grant attraction at the national and international levels.
• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in the area of Education.
• High level of English proficiency and excellent academic skills.
• A sufficient level of Spanish proficiency is desirable.
