Job Summary

Our successful Strategic Buyer will play a key part in Convatec's Global Procurement team by helping to create maximum value for Convatec through supporting the development, execution, and effective management of sourcing plans for direct materials used in the manufacture of medical devices. The successful Strategic Buyer will also support the coordination and leveraging of global procurement direct materials spend.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify and drive year over year cost improvement for direct materials suppliers in line with productivity targets from suppliers that fall within the critical or tactical segments.
• Strategic Sourcing Plan Development - the Strategic Buyer, is responsible to engage the key category stakeholders and facilitate the development of a global sourcing strategy.
• Procurement - the Strategic Buyer is responsible for identifying, selecting, and contracting suppliers as assigned.
• Supplier Management - the Strategic Buyer is responsible for effective Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), monitoring and managing supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, delivery timeliness, risk, etc.
• Continuous Improvement - the Strategic Buyer will be involved in identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives that will generate value through increase supplier performance or capabilities.
• Responsibilities include sourcing of direct materials and categories as assigned

Travel Requirements

Travel primarily within Europe, North America to plants and supplier facilities. Travel 10-15%.

About You

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in sourcing direct materials or finished goods.
• B.S. or B.A. and/or Professional certification (CPM, CIPS, EIPM, Lean Six Sigma) or studying towards one are highly desirable.
• Excellent inter-personal & communication skills.
• Results oriented.
• Possess analytical problem-solving ability. Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret problems, incorporating data gathered from a variety of sources.
• Able to proficiently use Microsoft excel/software tools to analyse data and identify and solve complex problems.
• Understanding of financial and cost accounting principles, resource planning and allocation, and the fundamental drivers of improvements across a variety of business areas.
• Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience, at multiple levels within the company using a variety of formats, presentations, emails, leading meetings, face to face, etc.
• Some experience managing cross-functional and cross-business projects within a matrix business environment, including an understanding of the barriers to change and how to overcome them.
• Ability, to define a strategy and translate it into actionable plans and then manage these plans through to implementation.
• Ability to achieve results in a global environment, working across borders, cultures, and languages.
• Understanding of how to create and apply new approaches and methodologies to solving business problems.
• Experience working with e-procurement sourcing tools to evaluate & select the best vendors to drive savings, increase value & manage risk
