Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Raw Materials Buyer to manage the procurement of key raw materials for our chemical manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships within the chemical industry. This role is critical in ensuring a stable supply chain, optimizing costs, and maintaining quality standards. This role will be part of a Regional team, it will be based in Mexico but will also actively support the plants in Michigan.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Sourcing:

• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials, ensuring alignment with company quality and cost objectives.

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure key chemical raw materials at competitive prices.

• Monitor market trends, supply conditions, and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements related to chemical procurement.

• Create and update Purchase Orders using QAD and SAP.

• Create internal reports in Excel.

• Order samples for raw materials and track shipments.

Supplier Management & Negotiation:

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing to optimize costs and service levels.

• Manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and sustainability standards.

• Mitigate supply risks by developing alternative sources and ensuring continuity of supply.

Inventory & Cost Control:

• Collaborate with production, planning, and inventory teams to ensure optimal raw material stock levels.

• Monitor inventory usage and coordinate with stakeholders to prevent shortages or overstocking.

• Track and report key procurement metrics, driving cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.

Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier agreements.

• Support audits and compliance reviews related to raw material sourcing.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Advance knowledge of the English language.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Chemistry, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience in procurement, preferably within the chemical, manufacturing, or industrial sector.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

• Knowledge of chemical raw materials, supply chain logistics, and global sourcing strategies.

• Familiarity with procurement software (QAD, SAP, ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

• Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.

• Understanding of regulatory frameworks for chemical products in USA and Mexico.

• Professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, or APICS) are a plus but not essential.
