We are developing a high-performing Global Trade Services (GTS) function, and the Automotive Business Unit Manager will play a key role in supporting international trade compliance and operations within the business unit.
This position acts as a strategic partner and integral part of the Operational Compliance team, with the main responsibility of ensuring adherence to global import and export regulations at the BU level. The goal is to strengthen compliance, mitigate risks, respond effectively to trade challenges and opportunities, and streamline operational trade processes.
Reporting to the Senior Regional Manager for the Automotive BU, this role is a core contributor to the GTS team. The selected individual will collaborate with a group of experts committed to enabling business growth through effective and practical solutions aligned with international trade regulations.

Responsibilities in Trade Compliance for the Business Unit
- Oversee day-to-day trade operations and ensure alignment with international import/export compliance requirements for the Automotive Business Unit.
- Implement and sustain operational and compliance procedures in coordination with key internal stakeholders, ensuring adherence to defined standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Serve as the main contact for BU leadership on topics related to trade compliance.
- Collaborate closely with business partners to anticipate operational changes and implement strategic trade compliance measures that support legal and efficient trade flows.
- Monitor and report performance metrics (KPIs) at the BU level to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of trade processes.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with trade authorities, in collaboration with corporate governance teams.
Collaboration Across the Organization
- Coordinate with regulatory and governance teams to stay informed on evolving trade laws and assess their impact on business operations.
- Participate in audit processes, support implementation of corrective actions, and contribute to risk mitigation plans.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of targeted compliance training programs across the region.
- Ensure trade operations leverage available centralized services such as classification, screening, and compliance programs related to duties, origin, valuation, and admissibility.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve trade efficiency, including the use of free trade agreements, drawback programs, foreign trade zones, and other cost-saving mechanisms.
- Maintain strong communication and alignment with other departments such as legal, procurement, supply chain, and finance to increase trade compliance awareness and proactively manage trade-related risks.
Candidate Profile
Success in this position requires strategic thinking, solid analytical capabilities, and a hands-on approach to solving complex trade-related issues. Strong communication skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams are also essential.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain, law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in global trade compliance.
- Preferred: At least 3 years in a leadership or senior functional role in a multinational setting.
- Preferred: Experience supporting trade activities in sectors such as industrial, automotive, communications, or transportation.
- In-depth knowledge of import/export laws and regional customs practices.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Customer-oriented with a strong commitment to compliance and operational excellence.
- Willingness to travel as required by the role.
