Zurich Capability Center is currently hiring a:

SQL Database Developer

Database  Developer Skill Set:

1. SQL Proficiency: Strong command over SQL (Structured Query Language), including knowledge of querying, filtering, joining, and aggregating data.
2. Database Design: Understanding of database design principles such as normalization, indexing, and schema optimization.
3. Database Management Systems (DBMS): Experience with various DBMS platforms like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
4. Stored Procedures and Functions: Proficiency in writing and optimizing stored procedures, user-defined functions, triggers, and views.
5. Performance Tuning: Skills to optimize SQL queries and database performance through indexing, query rewriting, and database configuration.
6. ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): Familiarity with ETL processes to efficiently move and transform data between systems.
7. Troubleshooting and Debugging: Ability to diagnose and resolve database-related issues like slow queries, locking, and concurrency problems.

Good to have:

8. Version Control: Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing database schema changes and SQL scripts.
9. Data Security: Knowledge of SQL security best practices, including user management, permissions, and data encryption.
10. Data Modeling: Ability to create efficient data models and ER diagrams to represent database structures.

MySQL Skill Set (Specific to MySQL):

1. Installation and Configuration: Experience in installing and setting up MySQL server and client applications.
2. SQL Syntax for MySQL: Proficiency in using MySQL-specific SQL syntax, functions, and data types.
3. MySQL Workbench: Familiarity with MySQL Workbench for database design, administration, and development tasks.
4. MySQL Security: Ability to configure MySQL security settings, manage user privileges, and implement encryption.
5. Database Monitoring: Experience with monitoring MySQL database performance and health using tools like MySQL Enterprise Monitor or open-source alternatives.
6. Stored Procedures and Triggers: Proficiency in creating stored procedures, functions, and triggers using MySQL syntax

Good to have:

7. Replication and Clustering: Understanding of MySQL replication for high availability and scalability, as well as clustering options.
8. Backup and Recovery: Skills to perform database backups and implement recovery strategies using tools like mysqldump or MySQL Enterprise Backup.
9. High Availability Solutions: Knowledge of MySQL high availability solutions like MySQL InnoDB Cluster or Percona XtraDB Cluster.

Other expectations:

• Experience with JSON
• Experience with job schedulers
• Ability to Support / Perform End-to-End Testing
• Developers must have excellent analytical skills to understand the business requirements and design the software according to their needs
• Attention to details, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Functional knowledge in Insurance industry is a huge plus.
