Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to oversee and enforce safety protocols, with a strong focus on DOT and FMCSA compliance. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting audits and training, managing accident investigations, and ensuring adherence to federal and state transportation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Monitor driver qualification files, hours of service (HOS), ELDs, drug and alcohol testing, and vehicle maintenance records.
• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards.
• Lead safety meetings and training sessions for drivers and operational staff.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies during audits, inspections, and investigations.
• Maintain and analyze safety data and trends to recommend proactive measures.
• Manage CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores and implement strategies to improve them.
• Oversee onboarding and orientation for new drivers, including safety training and regulatory compliance.
• Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and disseminate information to relevant personnel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a transportation safety role with a strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Knowledge of safety management systems, driver logs, HOS, and vehicle inspections.
• Experience with ELD systems and fleet management software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, train, and build relationships with drivers and staff.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), DOT Compliance Officer, or similar certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with accident reconstruction and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety.
• Spanish language skills (optional but a plus).
