The SW GCM position is required to support sourcing and supplier management for the Storage BU's Pulsar project. The Storage BU has grown its business far beyond the market, and it continues to be a growth segment for ISG.
About the Role
Lenovo's Infrastructure Solution Group (ISG) is currently hiring a Software Procurement Global Commodity Manager with education and experience in software contracting and software supplier management in the data center environment. In this exciting position, you will be part of Lenovo's ISG Software Procurement team responsible for expanding and managing Lenovo's portfolio of software suppliers.
This position will manage the sourcing, contract negotiation, administration, and relationships for the suppliers in the project. This will include managing cost/price files as they are updated, updates in our MFG/Shipment systems for cost changes, designation for WHT status by country, and term customizations required for TruScale.

About the Role

Responsibilities
As part of the ISG Software Procurement Team, this position will have the following responsibilities:
- Driving software contract negotiations and deal closure including obtaining final approvals from all appropriate functional stakeholders.
- Developing and maintaining all required documentation for the contract file including source justification, any RFQ documentation, and approval records.
- Managing software price lists with varying formats.
- Developing creative solutions to "high-touch" supplier requirements by collaborating with other ISG process teams.
- Interfacing with Lenovo cross-functional teams to understand their software requirements.
- Leading software sourcing activities to choose new / best suppliers including developing RFQs, RFQ evaluation criteria, and managing the overall RFQ process.
- Managing the ongoing relationship with a portfolio of software suppliers including:
- Issue resolution,
- Cost and payment management,
- Periodic supplier performance reviews,
- Vendor setup and relationships,
- Part number set up and maintenance, AND
- Order placement and ensuring that orders are completed within Lenovo's procurement systems.
- Reporting regular status at cross-functional status meetings and reporting status to management and senior management (as required).
- Data analysis and accuracy are critical in this role.
Position Requirements
To qualify the candidate must possess the following experience and skills:
- Very strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
- BA/BS or higher
- Minimum of 5-7 years of directly related experience in the data center/server environment that includes the following:
- Software contract drafting and management.
- Software supplier relationship management.
- Software operations management including reporting to suppliers.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
- Ability to think strategically, but also have exceptional attention to detail.
- Team-oriented
- Skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
- Works cooperatively with guidance from an experienced Procurement or Business Professional in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Data analysis across complex relational databases.
- Database Queries and Microsoft Excel, as well as being skilled in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Self-motivated and directed with established organizational ability.
- Prioritization skills with the ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, with the ability to present to senior management.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. This role requires working with a worldwide, cross-organizational team. The job spans international teams in China, the US, and other geographies; although travel should be minimal, some travel will be required.
- Willingness to work with international, multi-cultural teams including understanding and respecting cultural differences and attending meetings/conference calls at early and late hours to accommodate time zone differences.
