Job Summary:
This Algorithm Vehicle Development Engineer role is centered around the test and validation engineering aspects of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) vehicle programs for OEM customers. Vehicle-level testing may be conducted either on test tracks or real-world road networks, spanning several US states and cities. As part of the ADAS Algorithm team, your work will directly support the development of driving and parking features that are leading edge technology. The successful Algorithm Vehicle Development Engineer has a self-starting mentality, enjoys working hands-on on a variety of projects simultaneously, is able to guide a team of operators and technicians, and understands how to achieve a high level of "customer" satisfaction from internal and external engineering teams.

Your Role:
- Work closely with Feature/Function Owners, Project Managers and Development engineers to design and conduct tests that will evaluate interim software for performance issues and improvements.
- Lead the test vehicle set up with cameras, radars, video data recorders and pre-production control modules to conduct tests on evaluation software. Includes instrumenting test vehicles, updating s/w and calibrations and verification of data recording full functionality.
- Lead on-road ADAS Vehicle testing in the form of exploratory test trips and regular test routes in several locations, serving data collection and feature performance requirements. Includes designing test routes, interfacing with the Vehicle Operators and Technicians, detecting trends in the data and performing initial data analysis of test session logs.
- Conduct closed-course vehicle testing on various test tracks and proving grounds. Includes instrumenting test vehicles, performing test driving and test session data log analysis.
- Specification of instrumentation and equipment for test vehicles, including both low- and high-level sensor data.
- Design, creation and implementation of automated data analysis scripts. Includes working with engineering teams to determine which parameters to calculate, writing robust scripts to do the analysis, and then presenting the results to the Algorithm Software engineering teams.
- Create test procedures, plans and test reports to support all vehicle testing activities.
- Leading daily stand-up meetings with Algorithm teams and test technicians to determine the day's testing requirements and strategy to complete them.
Your Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 1+ years of vehicle-level testing experience in Autonomous Driving, or 3+ years vehicle-level testing experience in one of the following areas: Durability/Reliability, Vehicle Dynamics, Homologation
- 1+ years of data analysis experience
Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of vehicle-level testing experience in Autonomous Driving
- Basic knowledge of ADAS features
- Experience in Vehicle CAN protocol tools (CANoe, CANalyzer & CANape)
- Experience in Vehicle diagnostics for integrated Radar & Vision systems for ASAS
- Experience instructing Technicians and Operators/Drivers to complete tasks
- Experience creating automated data analysis in tools such as MATLAB and Python
- Experience with Agile tools (JIRA, Polarion)
- Technical writing proficiency for test procedures, plans and reports.
