What You'll Do:
Data Engineers at L'Oréal play a vital role in enabling data-driven decisions by making sure data is accessible, trustworthy, and ready for analysis. As an essential team member, you will develop and maintain data pipelines, handle data integration, design data models and warehouse solutions, perform data cleaning and transformation, optimize pipeline performance, and enforce data governance and security standards.
- Build and scale reliable data pipelines using GCP technologies such as Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub to ensure data quality and performance.
- Develop and fine-tune ETL workflows with GCP tools like Dataflow, Dataproc, and Cloud Functions.
- Design effective data models for analytics and reporting, following governance and best practices.
- Implement automated, robust pipelines in GCP to process both structured and unstructured data using batch and streaming methods with cloud-native tools.
- Collaborate with data architects, ETL developers, BI developers, data scientists, and information designers to define necessary data structures, pipelines, and metadata management.
- Apply data quality validations, lineage tracking, and compliance checks.
- Optimize GCP resources involved in data processing, storage, and analytics while managing costs.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver actionable data solutions.
- Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot issues, and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Automate data workflows using Python and shell scripting.
- Provide innovative insights on leveraging GCP cloud capabilities.
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years in product and/or data architecture and engineering roles.
- Extensive experience designing and operating scalable data pipelines with GCP, including ETL, ingestion, and transformation.
- Minimum 3 years of technical leadership delivering data solutions using GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Composer).
- Strong SQL expertise and advanced Python skills for pipeline orchestration and data processing.
- Solid grasp of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and schema design with BigQuery experience.
- Proven ability to architect data extraction and transformation workflows for diverse data sources — structured, unstructured, and semi-structured — supporting real-time, batch, and on-demand use cases.
- Deep understanding of Agile SDLC in cloud environments, including environment management, test automation, CI/CD, and resource optimization.
- Knowledge of data governance practices and implementation of quality checks.
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Looker.
- Capacity to mentor and coach teams virtually and in person, especially on GCP analytics services.
- GCP Data Engineering or Cloud Architect certification preferred.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Full-stack development skills are a plus.
Business Intelligence and Domain Expertise:
- Background in CPG, retail, or e-commerce industries with knowledge of key KPIs like sales growth, market share, and customer lifetime value.
- Experience collaborating with business stakeholders to translate needs into technical BI specifications.
- Skilled at working with analysts to identify data sources and ensure data quality for reporting.
- Active contributor to BI strategy and roadmap development, influencing organizational BI direction.
