The ideal candidate for this position would have a Manufacturing and / or Design Engineering background with a strong interest/understanding in finance and Technologies. They would be responsible for creating cost targets and supporting engineering / purchasing in achieving benchmark level costs. The position will provide an opportunity to work with a variety of vehicle components and present to all levels of cross functional management regionally, and globally. They will be an active member of the Product Development Team and work closely with Engineering to develop optimized design solutions ensuring best in class cost and function.

Main responsibilities:

• Analyze requirements and specifications of a part to determine the component and Engine Control Unit cost throughout the development process. Identify and quantify cost elements, such as labor costs, material costs and production cost.
• Cross functional meetings regionally, and globally, to identify best practices. Support purchasing and engineering functions to ensure market leadership.
• Participate in competitive benchmarking activities to generate cost reduction proposals. Drive cost reductions with an analytical cost avoidance/savings mindset on purchased parts and vendor tooling.
• Evaluate design options; develop best practices, procedures and innovative solutions to improve product cost.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and proposing work/process flow layout.
• Occasional domestic and international travel to suppliers and other Nissan locations.

Education:

BS degree in Engineering preferred. Other credentials or work experience will be considered.

Desirable: Master degree in Finance.

Previous experience:

5 year experience Automotive Industry.

Language:

English (Advanced skills)- TOEIC > 750Pts.

Computer skills:

Strong proficiency in MS Office applications – MS Word and Excel (Macros, Pivot Table, etc.) Familiarity with special estimating software or programming skills would be a plus.

Desirable: MS Access

Competences:

Able to quickly analyze, compare and interpret detailed and sometimes limited information and make sound and accurate conclusions.

Collect and synthetic information in database to give a report.

Able to lead teams.

Ability to defend his/her conclusions with detailed evidence and convincing negotiation.

Presentation, clear and direct communication skills.
